My son has ADHD, MY question is It seems that at times my son has memory lost at times. We have retech him then when this happens! Is this normal with ADHD or is there something eles where missing. Its very confusing at times to see him all of a suten not know something that he already knows. He almost had to go to a speacial school last year cause he couldn't get up with the othe other children in his class for 3 months striaght. He is already in speacial classes in regular school.
He already has OT, Speech, Social counseling services at scool. He is in the process of neuorlogical testing as we speak. I will keep everybody else up to date on what we fine out. As for going over his work, I don't get bored, he does! So I'm stuck there yet too.

It's hard when our little ones have to struggle so much. I think that going over his class materials again and again seems like it would be time consuming and boring for an adult, I know I would get tired of it, but if that's what he needs to retain the information then I would definantly make the time and try really hard to be patient and understanding.
Has your son had evaluations done for educational disabilites? Is there any concern about his learning style? Maybe he learns differently than the teacher is teaching.
I am going to give you some links to learning styles inventories. I have issues with some of the sites that make you become a meber to get the results so I will try and make sure the ones I send aren't that type.

I am a combination of audio and visual. I can usually learn by hearing if it is interesting to me but really do better if I can actually see instructions and pictures (that's the visual). If I am having a problem I will follow my husband around talking his ear off and in the meanwhile I suddenly figure out the solution to my problem because I heard it being explained (that's the audio at work). Your son may not be getting the information presented in his learning style and that's why it isn't going anywhere, well it's going but not sticking sometimes.
Talk to a school educational tester and see about getting him tested for learning style and for other disabilities.
Also, vision therapy may be something to look at, he may have a processing issue there. He may see it but it get confused going to the brain. A friend of mine had to do exercises with her son with colored glasses and other items and he was about to go into special-ed classes in 2nd grade. He excelled after retraining his brain. Get some assessments done.
This could be a working memory deficit that often goes hand in hand with ADHD. Or even a central auditory processing disorder or general sensory processing disorder. My recommendation is that you look for a doctor or occupational therapist in you area who specializes in this area, and try to get a diagnosis and further treatment recommendations.
Hi, M.:
Has your son been tested neurologically?
Just want to know who diagnosed him?
