My In-laws did and yes, it worked. They live in a very, very old house in South Texas where it's hot and hotter not summer and winter.

A.,
We had this done earlier this year so we don't have a lot of bills for comparrison sake, however the ones we have had seem to be significantly lower so far.
We had EAS come out and their estimate was $3366.30. They called later and gave me a "special" price of $2571.80 and a couple of weeks later they quoted me another price of $2503.62.
In the mean time, I had been given the name of another man who came out and gave me a quote of $1250.00. We did check out the product he used and we asked many questions of this man prior to making the decision. This man was referred to me by my realtor that sold us this home. Enough time had passed that when we had him come out the product had increased in price and it ended up costing us $1300.00.
His information is SS Enterprises his name is Steve Stamps and his number is ###-###-####. It took the majority of a day for the installation to be completed but we have been very happy with his work.

We just had it installed a couple of weeks ago so we haven't seen an electric bill yet. However we feel that the house is considerably cooler and the air conditioner runs less. The usual "hot spots" in our house are cooler.

We got a quote from EAS but decided to go with Energy Improvements (www.energyimprovements.net). We chose the lay down foil instead of the spray on kind. It qualifys as a tax deduction too.

we have radiant barrier that was done before we moved in - the previous owners reported a decrease of about $200 per month on their summer cooling bills (the records we got were that their April electric bill was about $500 plus and then after the radiant barrier the July bill was about $300). They also upgraded the insulation. The house is just shy of 4,000 sf - one level and we keep the a/c on 78 - we do have a pool and a hot tub - and the electicity to run the pool pump 12 hours a day... I think the radiant barrier definitely helps!

Hi A.,

We have not had it done, but my father has. He had the foil barrier put in, not the spray on kind. Supposedly the foil barrier blocks out about 97% of the heat coming out of your attic the spray on only blocks about 75%. He got several quotes (5 or 6) before settling on the following guy who did the job:

Joseph Perry. His numbers are ###-###-#### and ###-###-####. The website that he uses is www.foilbarrier.com. There is lots of good info there about the stuff.

He said he was extremely happy with the job he did and it has made a big difference in their electric bill.

His cost was around $1600 for a 1900 sq ft home and that was with insulation as well as the foil barrier.

I did not have a radiant barrier put in as an insulation guy told me he stopped putting them in as they were frying people's roof tops. After about 5 years they were having to replace their entire roof. He said the barrier traps heat between the barrier and the roof, no place for the heat to go. So, not sure if this is true, but you may want to do some more research. We decided to add additional insulation only.

We had radiant barrier installed last year by EAS through Home Depot. It definitely reduced our cooling and heating bills. They also added extra insulation as we bought a 40 year old 2-story house in Arlington from the original owner so the insulation in the attic was a minimum. EAS also installed ridge vents on our roof and sofit vents. All of this has helped. That being said we did not care for EAS. They did not clean up our yard and we found nails and other debris in the yard around our house for a few weeks after. They also came unprepared as their vacumn cleaner was broken so they asked to borrow our and they did not have a flashlight so i loaned them a small one we had and when they were gone i found it covered in the silver radiant barrier stuff. Fortunately we had arranged for EAS through Home Depot so we went back to Home Depot and complained and ended up getting a $100 gift card out of it. It is definitely worth it I would just be cautious with EAS and make sure they clean up, etc. when they do the job. Good luck!

We got it and it works GREAT!!! Our electric bill goes down every month. We are on average billing and it drops every month. It also stays very cool in here and our ac does not run as often as it used to. It stinks when they are putting it in, but it works great. I say it's a good investment. We got the spray on kind and they also sprayed insulation in as well as putting in roof vents. It was about 1600 for our house which is about 2000 sq ft.

Had EAS come to our home this very day. The two young men who did the spray on barrier and the insulation were top quality. Very courteous, extremely efficient, and they were not afraid to have me inspect their job afterwards. I would reccommend them to anyone having this energy work done in their home. Thank you, EAS.
