I am wondering if anyone knows of easy recipes I could cook for my family nothing fancy. I know nothing about cooking, but I could read a recipe. I have bought a couple of books, but I just need simple meals I could make for my one year old and my husband and soon for my 6 month old. I will give you an example I just learned how to make scrambled eggs. So if someone could give me recipes, a cook book name, or website I would be very greatful and so would my family.

Here is a very simple recipe I make about once every 2 weeks because my kids and hubby love it. And I love it because it only takes about 30 minutes total.
Ravioli Bake
1 pound ground beef browned in skillet
1 jar spaghetti sauce
1 pound frozen cheese ravioli(most bags are about 1 pound)
mozzarella cheese

Boil ravioli according to directions on bag and drain water when done. Add browned ground beef and jar of spaghetti sauce to ravioli and put into a 9 x 13 baking pan. Top with mozzarella cheese and bake in the oven at 375 for about 15-20 min. Until cheese is melted and slightly golden. I make frozen garlic bread on the side and serve with salad.

Hi B., I'm a mom of 6 and this recipe is a great hit with all the picky eaters and hubby who wants a meat and potatoes meal. Plus you can look up recipes on kraftfoods.com where this recipe came from. I also get a magazine from them called Food and Family and it is awesome!!

Cheesy Ham and Rice Bake---
2 cups minute rice, uncooked
1 can(103/4oz.)condensed cream of mushroom soup
2 cups of milk
1/4 cup of miracle whip
1pkg. of chopped ham they rec. 16 oz
2 cups frozen peas
1/2 cup shredded chedder cheese
Preheat oven to 425. Mix everything up except the cheese, cover and bake for 20 min. in a casserole baking dish.
Uncover and sprinkle with cheese, bake 10 min. more or until rice is tender and cheese is melted.
Great dish with stuff you already have on hand and CHEAP(my favorites)

Hi

There is a book called "A man, A Can and a Plan" - it is made to be VERY simple for men/bachelor types. My husband got it from his mother, but it happens that there are several recipes I really like - even the Tuna Pot pie!!
Also consider checking out www.savingdinner.com or the book of the dame name.
or Print your free Menu!
www.savingdinner.com/.../free_dinner_menu.html

My advice is - Keep a good sense of humor!
Best of luck - A. C

Let me think up a couple-

BARBEQUE CHICKEN- Throw chicken breast and/or legs in baking dish, then pour BBQ sauce over them & bake for about 20-30 mins @ about 350 degrees. You can always check your chicken for doneness by pulling back some meat from the bone- if no blood/pink then it is done. Cook some frozen veggies on the stove top to go along.

CHILI- Brown some hamburger & drain, add a couple cans of tomato sauce, pack of Chili Seasoning, chopped onion, can of Kidney beans, black beans, chili beans and if needed a little water or more tomato sauce. Basically- Just add what ever & how much of it you feel, make it as think or thin as you want! Very easy, ready when hot. We love to have ours w/ chips, sour cream & cheese on top!

OK, now I am hungry! I love to cook & love helping those who want to learn. I think I specialize in the word "simple" so if you are ever stuck or trying to think of something new feel free to email me @ ____@____.com- thought of another great one... for lunches

BEANIE WEANIES- Super easy... Cut up some hot dogs into a pot or pan, pour in one or two cans of baked beans & heat... YOU’RE DONE! Sometimes I even add a little ketchup.

Please feel free to email me any time w/ any cooking questions-I could just go on w/ ideas- HA!

Hi B.,

I have a recipe that is simple and cheap...

Chicken and Dumplings

what you need

(1 whole chicken) or (two cans chicken breast chunks and 1 can chicken broth)
4 cans pop up biscuits
chicken boullion cubes (optional)
salt & pepper
A large pot or saucepan

If you use the canned chicken just throw it in with the canned broth, add some water and bring to boil...then do the biscuits (tear into pieces) and when they float to the top you are done...

Boil chicken in large stockpot...
save the broth and debone the chicken, I take a strainer and a large bowl, after I get all the chicken out of the pan and have the bowl of broth I pour the broth in my stockpot and then when the chicken is deboned I throw that in to boil...
Once it is boiling good you pop open the biscuits and tear them into pieces (about four is good) and throw them in the stockpot, I use about four cans....

McCormick Meatloaf seasoning mix....this makes a killer meatloaf...and it has the recipe and variations on the back of the package...I know they sell it at wal-mart

Beans and cornbread
Anyone can do this and I suggest a crockpot for easy cooking, if not you have to remember to add water!

If you like homeade breads Rhodes has rolls and loaves in the freezer dept...just thaw, let it rise and bake!

Breakfast burritos...now that you know how to make scrambled eggs you could add a few things to spice it up, I use sausage, bell pepper, onions, cheddar cheese and picante sauce.

Just a few ideas...happy cooking!

My favorite cookbooks are Ann Byrn and her Doctor books: Cake Mix, Cupcake, Chocolate, and DINNER Doctor books. Her recipes use convinience foods, are fast and easy, and best of all, yummy! I have yet to try a recipe of hers that doesn't work. I cannot recommend her books highly enough. I'm the one my friends and family come to for food help, and she's the one I go to! You can find them just about anywhere: I saw her cupcake book at Lowe's Hardware, heehee! Check your library, too, in case you want to do a trial run before purchase.
Plus, you can email me too, just like everyone else I know does. Sharing recipes makes me feel useful, heh. (____@____.com)
I'm always happy to help in the kitchen!

Here is a very easy homemade chicken and noodles recipe sure to please. Take a whole chicken or a couple leg quarters cover with water and add 1 small chopped onion and 2 celery stalks chopped. Bring to boil cook over medium heat for about 20 minutes remove just the chicken, once it cools enough for you to take the meat off the bones, chop and throw back in the pan with the broth, onion and celery. add 6 ckicken bullion cubes and bring back to a slow boil. In a bowl put 3 cups all purpose flour, 1 teaspoon salt and 1 large egg. mix and turn out onto a floured board, roll out to 1/4 inch thick, use a pizza cutter to cut strips and drop into boiling pot. stir occassionally and let cook 15 to 20 minutes more, it should thicken some as it cools. My family love the homemade noodles it really hits the spot on a chilly day. good luck, T. k.
p.s. you can add chopped carrots, corn, any vegetable you like.

I know that Tuna Helper is easy and actually pretty good. And Hamburger helper is easy. Another is chicken with mushroom gravy, You take 2 - 3 chicken (boneless breast) and campbells mushroom soup *(mix with milk and water) cook in the oven 1 to 1 1/2 hours (depending on size of chicken) serve over rice.
Also easy meals are the "frozen meals in a bag". you just add meat. they give the directions on the back of the bags. Good luck with your learning to cook. It can be fun.

I made up this recipe, I really hope you try it.

Boil 1 whole chicking, or a package of chicken quarters. Season the water with some salt, and pepper, maybe chicken bullion. (or boil it in chicken broth)

Boil untill the meat starts to fall off the bones.

Use a fork and take all the chicken and bones outbut keep the broth.

let chicken and bones cool to the side.

Make Bisquick, like you were going to make biscuts.

roll dough out like making a pie crust. when rolled place it in the bottom of a pie dish.

preheat oven to 350 degrees.

cut chunks of Velveta cheese and place in bottom of pie crust.

remove chicken from the the bones, then cut chicken into small pieces. Place chicken pieces on top of cheese in pie crust.

cut more chunks of cheese and place on top of chicken.

make another pie crust, when rolled, place it on top of pie. and pinch around the sides of pie dish to hold together (like making an apple pie)

poke holes in top of crust. Put in oven.

take left over broth and make gravy with flour or corn starch. (mix flour or cornstarch in a cup with water, pour into sauce pan with broth, stir on medium until thickened)

Make a veggie or potatoes as a side.

pie should be done in roughly a half hour top will be slightly golden.

pour gravy over each slice served, on potatoes if you made them.

Great meal. Very filling, wonderful taste.

Another crockpot recipe that I have is take 1 whole chicken season with seasoning salt & pepper. Take about 6 pototoes individually wrap the potatoes in foil and then place the potatoes into the bottom of the crockpot then place your whole chicken (breast down) on top of the potatoes. Cook on low for 8 hours in the crockpot. Once again at the end of the day you have a great chicken & potatoes dinner! This is very good the entire family loves it!

I also have a great/easy Italian beef recipe (this can also be made in the crockpot)

And for chicken enchiladas
Chicken baseballs (Great for kids)
Zatarain's Red beans and rice cooked with smoked sausage is also very good and easy. The recipe is on the box.
I have all kind of goodies for the family let me know what you guys like and I can see what I have.

Boil water I fill up the biggest pot I own
When boiling add noddles
They take about 10 minutes to be reay. Take one out and test it for flavor. We use thin spegatti
Brown 1 pound of meat
Add spegatti sause simmer for till noodles are ready.

Then sevre with veggies I steam mine I put the water amd frozen veggie on the stove when I start cooking.

I also use pisbery breads. Just follow the directions on the package.

I consider myself a foodie! I am a big fan of the Rachel Ray Cook books- they are easy and most of the recipes are REALLY good! The only drawback is they usually require a LOT of ingridients!
I learned to make a lot of "classic" foods from the Better Homes & Gardens Cookbook. The red and white one.
If you don't want to buy a book- check out the food network's website. They have TONS of recipes that are rated- and the easy rated ones are pretty much fool proof!
