Recommedations for Steam Mop

I have a monster steam mop that I use once in a while. I prefer my microfiber mop instead. I used only water (no chemicals) and it gets everything up rather than spread it around. The microfiber pads are held on with velcro and can be washed in the washing machine and used over and over. It is also safe for my wood laminate floor and the floor is completely dry in less than 5 minutes. I prefer it to the steam mop by leaps and bounds. I got it at QVC. Look at www.qvc.com and put Don Aslett microfiber mop in the search box. There are different styles with different kinds of mop heads (scrubber, duster, etc.) They have an unconditional 30 day money back guarantee, so you can always send it back if you don't like it. They have several steam mops, too.

I bought my Bissell Steam Mop on Amazon several years ago and I would never consider using anything else. It's so much easier than mop & bucket, and much better results. I think the newer model is green and the washable pads fit better now. That's the only issue I have; the terry cloth pads take some finagling to get on and stay put.

I just purchased the Shark Steam Mop from Costco, I love it I have 360 sq ft of ceramic tile in my kitchen and have tried every device on the market to make it easier and cleaner. I love my shark. I wouldn't try it on wood floors....wood + water = not good!
Ours have attachements and Ii was trying to get out a spot out of the grout on my counter...little did I know I was blasting away the grout and made a hole in it! Yikes...not going to do that again. I stick with the floors now. :-)

I LOVE MY SHARK! I only have slate floors in my house and it seems to be the only thing that cleans it.

I love my Bissell Steam Mop. I got it online from HSN and it came with four pads that you can throw into the wash. It works great....no chemicals!

I have heard the Shark is good. But I've worried the steam will loosen the glue between the wood planks. However if you're using it to clean tiles, maybe it would work. I have a Hoover Floormate and it's bulky and more trouble than it's worth.

I love mine! My husband got it for me a couple of years ago. The only thing is that you have to use distilled water.And be sure and follow the directions carefully, I left me mop unplugged on a tile floor with the pad still attached while I went to get the kids from school a total of 20 minutes and after that it did not work any more.That is one of the "no-nos" in the directions. I loved my steam mop so much that even though I messed mine up I bought another one. I hope this helps.

P., I love the Hoover WetVac/Vaccuum. It is $98 at Costco and it is red & white. Easy as 1,2,3 to put together and runs just like a regular vaccuum. I love it. It is made for tile floors, grout cleaning, and hardwood floors.

I have a steam mop that I love for my tile floors but until I read these responses I didn't realize I could use it on my wood floors too? I'm surprised the steam doesn't hurt the wood? I'll try it in a small area out of the way just to see what it does! Good to know.

I have the Shark Steam Mop and I LOVE it. I haven't tried the "paper towel" test but I know it picks up a lot more dirt than my old mops ever did, and with small children I appreciate not having to use harsh chemicals. I even find it a lot less trouble than filling up a mop bucket or sink to mop the "old" way so I tend to stay on top of it a lot better. It does call for distilled water, but I just use the filtered water from my Brita pitcher. I do appreciate the tip of the first poster - I always thought we weren't supposed to leave the pad on or it would damage the floor - didn't realize it could damage the mop! But I've enjoyed mine so much that my mother-in-law even went out and bought one, too.

Hi P., I recommend a Bissell Steam Mop. It looks like a small vacuum cleaner and it is super light weight. I think they sell them at Target but I bought mine online for only $79. It is light green in color and comes with a couple of microfiber pads that you can wash and use over and over. It is better than using a mop and you don't need to use chemicals or cleaning agents because the hot steam is what cleans. I use it often.

I also clean tile & grout professionally. If your grout is dirty, a steam mop will not clean the grout UNLESS you first have the pores of the grout cleaned out and then seal the grout. I have the shark and I'm not impressed with the results. I would not recommend the Shark.

I have a Eureka Enviro Steamer that does a great job. I also have a Hoover Floormate and a Scooba and like both of them too.

We have the H20 Mop that we bought from seeing an ad on TV. It works great and it gets up so much of the dirt. You have washable covers (you can buy more of them if you need it)to pick up the dirt. It is very easy to use and it is lightweight. It came with a hand steamer also for the bathtub.

The only problem we had with it was we layed it down on the floor we didn't set it down gently. It hit the floor pretty hard and the top part of the mop broke. We called the company and they sent us a new mop.

The best thing I like about it is that it can get in the corners very easily due to the design of mop head.
