Hi Everyone,
I am helping out in my son's classroom for the holiday party that's coming up in a few weeks. I've been asked to read a book to the kids. I was thinking of The Polar Express, but I would love to hear what holiday books you've come across that would also be fun for 7 and 8 yr olds to hear. I look forward to your responses.
Thank you!

You have some good ideas already, but also - any Tacky the Penguin book (humorous), The Tomten by Astrid Lindgren, Jan Brett's illustrated version of The Mitten (or Jan Brett's Christmas Treasury).
Alfie the Christmas Tree is one of our favorites.
My faves are "Charlie Brown Christmas" and "Twas the Night Before Christmas". What I've found in reading to my kids' classes is the children just love having someone to read to them - they aren't super picky about the subject matter. However, remember - the mind will only absorb what the seat can endure. Since they are 7 or 8 year olds you will probably have a maximum of 8 minutes of attention span so keep the book relatively short.
A Wish To Be A Christmas Tree C Monroe - super cute for this age group
The snowman is good and so is the best christmas pagent ever. my kids loved those. you might want to be careful though depending on the type of school your in. If it is a public school they don't usually allow anything with a religious theme.
