Red and White Polka Dots for a Boy

A friend of mine is having a little boy. I'm making a diaper cake and have two ribbon colors I wanted to use together- light blue/aqua and red with white polka dots (small dots spread far apart). My husband says the polka dots are too girly. What do you ladies think? It never even crossed my mind that polka dots were girly. I could flip it over and just use plain red if I have to.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Just to reiterate my red and white polka dot selection- we both work for a large university thats colors are , you guessed it, red and white. My husband thinks he knows everything. :)

That is not girly! Sounds cute. Those colors remind me of a sailor boy outfit. (I guess sailor boy is red and white stripes, but similar.)

'S why there's no men at baby showers. Cute is cute, boy or girl.

Do it your way.

I think it's funny your husband has an opinion on the diaper cake. My husband probably would have been confused by the whole thing.

It's fine. Totally fine. Adorable, even.

Nonsense. There are no such things as girl colors/patterns or boy colors/patterns.

I do not think it matters, but if you are worried, just do the aqua.

I love the polka dots.

I think primary colors are perfect for little boys. And furthermore, your school colors are going to be a big hit. Have fun making and presenting the "cake".

If you must I would argue that the diaper cake is for mom and not the baby. Since the mother is a "girl"...even "girly" red/white polka are ok.

In reality I wouldn't argue. Its a diaper cake! It will exist for a few hours maybe show up in a picture or two... to be disassembled for usage. A non-issue.

So don't give your H a diaper cake. He's a party pooper!

I think the color combo will look just great! Take it as is.

I would appreciate any diapers I got from a friend and wouldn't think twice about the ribbon selection. She knows you know it is a baby boy.

Your color selection is soooo much better than the lime green/yellow I often see for boys...just sayin' :)

(and Theresa wrote the thought that first crossed my mind. Dang that gal is a mind reader!)

She's not going to care about the ribbon, she's going to use the diapers. I think it's fine. Good luck.

Polka dots are girly. Period.

Use stripes or a plaid style lines. That is much more masculine.

To borrow a T-shirt slogan from Pigtail Pals and Ballcap Buddies:
