Red Zin and Cabernet Sauvignon, my favorites. I try to buy as many local brands as possible. I always say I'm gonna start a log to jot down the name of each and my impressions but I never do it. I cook a lot so I feel like I should know more than I do, but when I go to the wine shop I can never seem to remember which ones I've tried, sigh. (perhaps if I stuck to the '1 glass' rule, Id remember more clearly, tehehe)

Malbec or Shiraz.

Are there any restaurants around you that do wine tasting? I would check around. Everyone has a different sense of taste, and a Malbec I may love, someone else does not.

Wine tasting is a great way to find just the right red for you.

If you don't mind spending approx $75 or so Turley is the best red wine for me. Worth every penny!

My husband loves Cabernet Sauvignon. St. Francis is one of his favorites. It's around $20 a bottle.

I prefer red zinfindels and pinot noirs. I like all kinds but those are my favorites. Pinot's have the highest concentration of resveratrol of all of the red grapes.

If you like to splurge, find a bottle of Frank's Family Vineyard. The zin is magnificient, about $36 a bottle. For a good all around zin, 7 Deadly Zins is another nice wine, from $15-18 depending on the store. Our Costco carries that one.

Trader Joe's carries some really great wines in the $7-10 range. I don't care for the now 3 buck 'Chucks', wines for $3 a bottle. They taste like they cost $3 a bottle.

I am always trying new wines and also have a hard time remembering which ones I like best. But, most times it doesn't matter. Good luck and have fun! D.

All of it! Just kidding -I'm actually really into red wine, so I have a big list, but I'll only put a few here. I'm a big fan of California reds, but I do enjoy Italian, Australian and South American reds -I just don't find nearly as many of them that I like. French reds always disappoint me -even the really pricey ones.

My all-time favorite is 2006 Silver Oak (Napa) Cabernet Sauvignon. The Alexander Valley version is good, but not as good and other years are the same way. Be prepared though -it's usually over $100 per bottle! Someone else mentioned Turley, and it's a great wine too as well as Camus. All three are expensive.

My favorite current "go-to" bottle is Sebastiani Pinot Noir or their Cabernet. It's quite good for $11-$15 per bottle. Fat Bastard Cabernet is also good at that price point. If you want less expensive, I enjoy McManus Cabernet and 97 lb. Rooster Zinfandel and Cabernet.

I'm not much of a Merlot drinker, but a common and VERY good Merlot is the Kendall Jackson -$12 -$20 per bottle depending.

My FAVE that's affordable, but still pricey enough to be a semi-splurge and not something I drink every weekend is Rosenblum Vineyards Annette's Reserve Zinfandel. Instead of the typical Rosenblum golden label, it's a dark charcoal. I love oakey, smokey wines with a tobacco undertone and this one smells like an oak barrel and tastes like autumn smoke (in a good way). It's truly superb at $30 per bottle -and they sell it at Trader Joe's here.

I like a good Cabernet Franc when I can find it. For a year my absolute fave was Helena View, and then they all corked.

Earthquake Zin and Seven Deadly Zins are also good.

Depends on how much you want to spend. We've spent as little as $13 a bottle for a good cab or merlot by Sterling to $150 a bottle for Caymus.

They range in flavors and prices. We tend to favor merlots and cabs. Sterling, Kendall Jackson, J Lohr, Blackstone, Rodney Strong are a few we like.

Find a good wine store with knowledgable staff to help you. I am not familiar with the Arlington area so I can't help you there.

I go to Market Street, Whole Foods, S&K in Plano. We have a daily wine in the black box that is not bad for a daily wine.

Good luck.
