Hello again mamas!!! As always when I am in need of great advice I turn to all of you. I have been deligated to get a retirement party together for one of the ladies in our office. I have some ideas and have picked out a few decorations....I am going with something elegant (florals)as opposed to the cheesy stuff that's out there. I got the decorations from the wedding section and I think it will turn out great..EXCEPT............I barely know this lady as she keeps to herself. The only thing I could dig up was that she loves wildlife (bear, moose, wolf, etc) as well as gardening (hense the floral design). So, with the decorations taken care of I have to concentrate on a gift and with that I am having the hardest time coming up with something creative and wonderful. Please, please, please ladies....give me some great advice as you always do. Thanks so much!!!!

What can I do next?

You don't mention your budget, but for someone with those interests, I would think a gift certificate to Orvis (they have a retail store in Dallas:
http://www.orvis.com/intro.asp?subject=594
or
LLBean (www.llbean.com) or Plow&Hearth (www.plowheath.com).
With the latter being likely the best fit as they have more gardening paraphenalia than the others. But, they all offer higher end, high quality products that make great gifts. This, along with a basket of gardening accessories like gloves, Burt's Bee's gardeners gift set, etc. would likely be appreciated.

This is gonna sound weird .. but Go to Cabela's and Bass Pro Shop and just walk around and get ideas. Then go walk around Garden Ridge. Do a big gift basket with several smaller things in it and gift cards and a B&B to a log cabin or something.

Hi, Kristen!

I do personalized wine gifts. If she is a wine drinker, you could put a personal message, and even a photo, on a wine bottle. You can order a 2-bottle gift box, a bottle of wine and truffles or go in on a case of custom-labeled wine. Check it out at www.FineWinesAtHome.com

Good luck with the party! Sounds like you're putting a lot of thought into it and doing a great job!

My mother & mother in law both love gardening, so whenever I need to give a gift, I either get a gift certificate to a local nursery or some type of fancy gardening gear (kneeling pad, pretty gloves). I've even made a "gift basket" out of a big watering can and filled it with small garden tools, gloves, hat and seed packets. Good luck & have fun.
