Reverse Sea Sickness?

Anyone experienced reverse sea-sickness, and how long does it last? We returned from a wonderful vacation where we were on a houseboat 7 days. I never had motion sickness while I was there, but we have been back 3 days and I can't seem to get accustomed to not being on a boat. My body keeps rocking, I keep running into counter tops and feel dizzy and "seasick". I have a huge headache that won't go away. I do not have any ear pain (internet search said ear infection might cause this). If you have experienced this, how long before it went away?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thanks! It ended up going away slowly but took 7 whole days! It was a bit of a rough adjustment!

This happened to me after being out at sea on our ship (Navy) for a week doing circles in the water. Your sense of equilibrium learned to compensate for the movement while you were out on the water, now it will take a little bit to return to normal. I promise it will! Took me a day or so, if I remember correctly.

I think that if it's been three days, you might want to talk to your doctor, just to rule out any other possible factors.

Had the same thing just last month after coming back from a sailing trip in the British Virgin Islands. Mine lasted 3 full days and I started noticing a big difference on the 4th day, day 5 I was back to normal, although I did end up with an ear infection a week later. (I was snorkeling a lot and think the diving and flying caused the ear infection though) I never took Dramamine while on the boat, but took it after I got back on land for several days, but even the "less drowsy" formula made me sleepy. Good Luck and you should be back to normal soon!

Send your hubby for some ginger candy from whole foods. That happened to my daughter and a couple of candies cleared her right up. If you can't get to the ginger candy, drink a little gingerale.

I know this happens. I felt like I was still on the boat for about 48 hrs. I have also had ear infections that I never felt .. Ie no pain. I would call the nurse and see what they say.

Happens to me all the time when we are at the lake house. Even without getting into the water, or stepping foot on a boat, the sound of the water lapping at the shores gives me that rocking feeling. land legs return within a few hours of getting away.

get yourself busy. suck on some lemon, have some seltzer. all will help.

good luck to you and yours,
