The Hula Hut isn't exactly candlelight dining, but there's nothing like it here in North Texas. It's one of our favorites. It's on a pier on Lake Austin, which covers your view request. Romantic? I guess that's a state of mind.
Hi Mammas,
My husband and I are taking a two day trip to Austin for our anniversary. I'm looking for a great place to go for dinner with a romantic atmosphere/view. I'm reading different reviews and it seems like every site has a whole new lists of places. Some seem to be chains that we already have here (we're from Dallas/Ft. Worth), so I'd rather it be somewhere specific to Austin if possible. We only have a couple of days away from the kiddos and this will be our first getaway since the birth of our 11 mo. old, so I'd like to plan well. Thanks for any ideas!

We went to The Oasis on Lake Travis. It's very reasonably priced & has a GREAT view of the lake! It was breath taking during sunset too! We definitely had a good time there. Service was good too. :-)
Have fun whatever you do!
The Oasis is the perfect place for what you are looking for. It's on Lake Austin and you can sit on the balcony and watch the sunset. They also have a live band most weekend nights. Check it out. I don't know how they handle the heat, but if it's not stifling, its pretty to watch the sunset.
When I think of dinner with a view, the Oasis is the first place that comes to mind. I haven't been there since they rebuilt part of it, and I personally hate the drive to get there, but it has a great view of the lake. People like to go and watch the sun set.
I don't know if its still in existence, but East Side Cafe has/had incredible food, romantic atmosphere and definitley Austin.
Eddie V's in downtown Austin. Ask to sit in the lounge if you like live music. Great venue, very romantic and wonderful food. They just put one in fort worth a few years ago, but it is nothing like the one in Austin, the original.
The Oasis has the most amazing view ever but its casual and mostly outdoor seating. It is romantic if you go and watch the sunset. Food is average though. People go for the view.
One of the most romantic places to eat in Austin has been here for 3 decades.. It is called Fonda San Miguel.. The indoor patio is dreamy. Plants, and cozy sofas, very intimate.. The food is Internationally praised. It is Interior Mexico type food.
Make a reservation. http://fondasanmiguel.com/
Jeffereys of Austin is also one of those special places that ha been recognized for their amazing food. It is in a small building in an old neighborhood. The food is original and always amazing.. Again, make a reservation. http://www.jeffreysofaustin.com/
We love Chez Zee, we take it for granted because it is in our neighborhood, but the food is divine. Make a reservation and let them know you want a romantic corner. There food is really good. And not as expensive at Jeffererys. http://www.chez-zee.com/
If these do not look like what you are looking for let me know and I can suggest more.. Enjoy your romantic trip! FYI, be sure to check out the Painted Cows while here.. Great Kodak Moments!
