P.S.
I'm secretly in love w/Adam Levine, so I have to run w/Maroon 5...those boys have got me through many many miles.
Hi! I took up running over the summer and really enjoy it, but have found that I enjoy it much much more with music. I'm looking for some new music. What does your playlist look like?
I'm secretly in love w/Adam Levine, so I have to run w/Maroon 5...those boys have got me through many many miles.
My Pandora station depends on my mood. I find the more upbeat the music, the harder/faster I run. I tend to lean toward dance remixes.
GOO GOO DOLLS, U2, The Script, Wicked (the Broadway play version) and much more. It usually depends on my mood.Sometimes all I listen to is relaxing Hawaiian songs or Josh Groban. In the past when I have trained for 1/2 marathon I would sync a book or two on my iPod. That was different and fun...but not something to do if you need something energizing to pump you up. This helped my mind get lost in something other than looking at mile markers or my watch.
Good luck and best wishes with your hunt for some additions to your playlist!!
Firewoman by The Cult has to get me started on each excursion. After that, anything goes as long as it's upbeat. :)
Not sure how your tastes run but I was recently introduced to an Australian artist called Gotye. His music is awesome! Its most upbeat and good for running!
Mine has a lot of late 90s music--House of Pain, Kid Rock, Korn and Courtney Love.
Once you start running you THINK some songs are fast they really aren't. I now moved Run DMC to my warm up playlist.
I usually listen to The Black Eyed Peas station on Pandora, love it!
Personally it depends on my mood as to what I want to hear while I'm running. What works one day might not suit me the next. Therefore I put all of my favorites on my player, use the random feature and start running. If the song doesn't suit me at that moment than I skip to the next until I find something that suits me at that moment.
Congrats on taking up running!! I too am pretty new to it, started last March & LOVE it! My playlist is all over the place, haha. I try and have a good variety for my work out, so I start off with Dave Matthews and build in intensity to some heavy metal type songs. In between there's reggae, pop, rock. I end with something mellow. See.. all over the place! I think whatever motivates you & gets you moving will work! Have fun!!!
My playlist is very random. It includes The Killers, NIN, Johnny Cash, Mamas and The Papas, Def Leppard, U2, Joan Baez, Brandi Carlile, Coldplay, Blondie, and Joan Jett. It's a great selection, and I have a lot of fun on my walks.
Check out this website: http://jog.fm/. I am training for a marathon and ½ in January, this will be my 7th distance race (1/2 marathon or greater) in the last 3 years (started running again after my daughter was 6 months old). I run around a 9 minute pace so this helps me select songs that suit my pace. Good luck and keep up with running, great for your health and gives you killer legs.
