Saturn VUE Vs. Subaru Forester

We are looking at purchasing a newer used VUE or Forester - and I am wondering if anyone out there has had one or both of these vehicles and how they compare? I know Subarus are pretty reliable, but for the money, we could afford a newer VUE as opposed to an older Forester at this point. We are leaning toward a VUE, but aren't completely sold. Have you had any problems with your VUE? Has it done well in the winter? We have 2 kids and I want to make sure the VUE is safe and reliable.

What can I do next?

I have a 2004 VUE and I really love it! I haven't noticed any legroom problems, but then I have only my son who's 3 who sits in the middle in a car seat. I've had really good luck with Saturns. My husband and I drive a 97 SL-1 to work, and it has 170,000 miles on it!

My husband drives a Forester. He loves it. I don't care for it -- mainly because the back seat is very cramped. I have a VERY difficult time getting my daughter's car seat in and out. I also don't think the front seats have enough leg room, although they certainly aren't as bad as the back. My husband (6')is taller than me (5'8"), but I have longer legs. On the plus side, there is a lot of cargo space and it has been a very reliable car. We have a 2005 and have had absolutely no problems.

The only thing I didn't like about the Forester is that with my husband being 6'5" our kids didn't fit in the back very well. There was very limited leg room, and there knees would be touching the back of the drivers seat. I'm only 5'1" so there was no problem on my side.

I loved, loved, loved the Forester but we ended up selling it because it just wasn't safe with the limited leg room.

We now have a Subaru Legacy Outback and it fits us great!

I think I can answer this one first hand-My husband has been selling them for 14 years. He states the Subaru AWD system is superior, higher safety and reliabilty rating, also a better resale value.
He would be glad to give you a more in depth comparison if you want to stop by Bloomington Subaru Acura off 494 & Lyndale. His name is Eddie Bittar and direct number ###-###-#### or email ____@____.com
Hope this helps! Good Luck with your decision~Smiles H.

We have a '98 Forester with 150K miles on it. We have had no probems other than regular wear and tear. I would recomend it.

I just bought a new Forester in May and love it. The visibility is so much better than the Vue. I haven't gone thru a winter but it really handles great on the road in good weather. Before I bought I bought it I questioned 3 friends/relatives who had theirs for years and they couldn't say anything bad about it. They all would buy one again. I bought mine end of the year and got a really good price.

My Husband and I bought a 2007 Forrester a year ago in preparation of our growing family. We absolutely LOVE it!!. I get great gas mileage, it handles beautifully, is extremely comfortable and best of all maintains a much higher resale value than a Saturn Vue. When we bought our Forrester I was looking at the Vue also and once I did a bit of shopping and test driving and comparisons I decided on the Forrester and have never been sorry. I hope that helps.
