Scotch Guarding Microfiber

Hey Moms,
Anyone know how to scotch guard a microfiber couch? I just had my baby boy's 1yr party and once again was stripping the couch pillows, re-stuffing them and scrubbing all the parts that couldn't be stripped. It is so exhausting and I always feel the need to do it before any family function at my house which is like 5 times a year or so! But if I didn't have nasty couch syndrome, I would feel more comfortable just having people drop over. Anyway, does anyone know if and how I can do this. Thanks!!

What can I do next?

The last thing I scotch guarded I just used a spray can of it. But it was something small like shoes or a bag, not a whole couch. My couch and mattress were silicone coated when I bought them (we paid a bit extra when we bought them). I have a dark color couch so I don't worry much. Baby wipes clean up a lot of spills if you catch them right away (even ball point pen). What about a steam cleaning machine or a washable slip cover (you could just take it off for company)?

Maybe not what you want to hear, but... I gave up trying to keep mine perfect. :-) I got some Surefit covers (www.surefit.com) but they have them everywhere now- Amazon, Penneys, etc. It was the best investment and there are sooo many styles/fabrics to choose from. If you factor in your time, stress, the cost of steaming/scotch guard, they really pay for themselves. You just drop them in the washer/dryer and they are ready to be put back on. Even if you have a new sofa/chair/whatever, you can protect it till your little ones outgrow the messy stage. It's also way cheaper than buying new furniture if you just want a whole new look in a year or two!

I have scotch guarded upholstery before and car seats, but when we bought our microfiber couches, the salesperson said DO NOT scotch guard microfiber!

So dblcheck with the mfr / the warranty info or the labels on the fabric.

I think you can have carpet cleaning guys do a whole couch. I was thinking of doing the same thing...It kills me that the sales guy told me that microfiber "is great with kids"!!! I hate that I am constantly cleaning the couch. I had to buy a steam cleaner to clean the darn couch!!!

We have microfiber dining room parson chairs and I just bought a couple cans of scotch guard from Lowes and sprayed them outside in the sun and let them dry for a few hours. I find it has been a HUGE help for us - with two toddlers - all I need is a wash cloth and everything just wipes off.
