Please help.

I'd love to get my 2 and a half year old into pre-school. I know she's going to love it. But...there are so many choices, and we're new to the area so would love a little guidance on where people recommend.

Unfortunately, because I work full-time, a co-op wouldn't be doable.

Any thoughts?

What can I do next?

EMU Children's Institute (Ypsilanti) is Accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children. I am the kindergarten teacher there, but I can reccomend it from a parent's perspective. My daughter started at 18 months old and is 3 now. The toddler and young preschool room teachers are excellent. The toddler teacher is so patient, loves to be outside with the children - on the playground and going for walks in the "buggy" around campus. The young preschool teacher is also very caring and patient with the children and is a great story teller and sings lots of songs with the children. We are enrolling for Spring, Summer & Fall semesters now. Call ###-###-#### for more info or www.emich.edu and then click on current students - then health services - and then child care. You don' have to be a student or staff of EMU to attend. K.

Fuller Hill Child Care Center (located by the VA Hospital) is very good. I have my toddler son there and a coworker has his preschooler there. They have a certified teacher and a great program. The entire staff is so caring and friendly. We both love it!

Don't know what side of A2 you live on, but we have enjoyed Stony Creek Preschool and Day Care on Carpenter Road. They have another A2 location as well, out on Dexter Road on the West side. http://www.stonycreekpreschool.com/

Little People's University (on St. Aubin, near Packard and Platt) is a great one. I had my son there from three months to the weekend before Kindergarten.
Small setting, caring teachers and a great curriculum. My son went on field trips to the pool, to the park, to Krogers (to learn about how food gets to the store), Ann Arbor Hands-On Museum, UM's Planetarium and Natural History Museum, Wyard's Orchard, etc. He knew how to read and started writing there at LPU as well as got necessary social skills. They have lots of learning center time as well as group time.

Hi K.. I am not sure what you are looking for but I can give input on a couple. I am a SAHM, but I have an Elem. education degree with a focus in Early Childhood so I feel very confident in these choices. I am not sure if you are looking for full time or not but here is both. While in college I worked for Gretchen House and they are GREAT. As a student teacher I worked for the Discovery Center and I also have had 2 nephews go through the program- again another great choice. The last one is actually in Saline. It is not a full time program, but it is called Pooh Corner. It is held at Houghton Elem. in Saline. Good luck in your search I hope this info helps.
