Hello Moms:
I had a coupon for a carpet cleaning service, turns out it was a scam and i am in need of a reputable carpet cleaning company in west Houston. I have hardwood downstairs, so it is just upstairs with the carpeting, inexpensive would be a plus!!

What can I do next?

Good Afternoon W.,

My name is M. and I'm a 32 year old single mom of a 6 year old son. I'm not a carpet cleaning business, but I have done carpet cleaning on the side for extra money. I can provide references as to my quality of work and my character. I'm really just trying to make some money to pay bills, because I recently lost my job. I do have my own shampooer and necessary solution. I'm not sure how many rooms or any other details. So it would be hard for me to quote you a price. Please call the number listed below and I will be glad to speak with you further.

God Bless,
M. L.

I just got really good advice from a Mom here on Mamasource. She worked at a flooring co. and knew A LOT about carpets, etc.

She advised me to ONLY dry clean the carpet and only hire companies that provide this service. She said (and I have heard this before) to never use companies that use soap/cleaners on the carpet. After you do that, the carpet has a residue which is a magnet for stains. Therefore you will need to clean and clean more frequently.

So, although I don't have a specific company recommendation, look for a dry clean carpet company.

Try Max Carpet Cleaners (I think that's the name). The owner is Marcello. The number is ###-###-####. He is awesome. They cleaned my whole house, and three couches for $300! I needed it done because of cat hair and it was just before I had my little girl. They were there for 6 hours and they did an awesome job. My mom used them (she lived in Spring Branch), and she recommended them to me. Several of her friends have used them too. No complaints so far.

Not sure if you would be willing to do this but it is very inexpensive to clean them yourself. I used to do it all the time and it is not that hard at all. I would rent a machine from Randalls, WalMart or Ace Hardware. Buy the chemicals from them as well. The only problem is that the machines are a little heavy so getting it in and out of your car and up and down the stairs is difficult. You maight need an extra set of hands. I would use dtergent, but not as much as they say to use and very hot water. Then after I cleaned the entire room I would do it again, but this time with only hot water - no detergent. Keep doing this process until the water comes out clear and without suds. Then you know your carpets are clean and there is no residue left to attract more dirt. Good Luck!
