My 5 year old really wants to go to a dairy farm. Anyone know of maybe a smaller one around the area (we're in Arlngton) that would be willing to show us around?

What can I do next?

Homestead Farms in Keller has dairy goats. They have regular hours when you can go and visit their animals and everything. Also, they host "farm camps," which are mornings every now and then when kids can come and feed their chickens, help milk their goats (they have a milking machine), and generally see how everything works. It's a really fun experience! They will also do a birthday party the same way. While you're there, you should try some of their milk. It's delicious! :-)

Yep, Homestead farms does show you around. They even have special days where the kids can come and work for 2 hours. I have taken my son to that. It was so fun!! We actually buy lots of stuff from their little store and they are wonderful people. I would definitely take your 5 year old, and support their farm. They have lots of dates coming up that you can take her to help at the farm. They also have an Earth Day event. We love them!! Go to the farm fun part of their website. http://homestead-farms.net/farm-fun/

It's not a dairy farm, but Homestead Farms in Keller may be worth looking into. They have goats that they milk there. And the owner is a forth or fifth generation dairy farmer, so he can answer a lot of questions your five year old may have. They also offer a variety of "farm classes" for all ages different times of the year. Any time we have stopped by, whether it's for an event or just to stop by, the staff has been wonderful. Taking time to show my kids things on the farm and explaining different processes. They work hard to educate the community about farming. http://homestead-farms.net/

if you're ever up north, north of Denton and just a bit west of Gainsville, Circle N Dairy is a great, friendly one. Just call ahead to schedule an appointment.
