I just found out that I am pregnant and have only lived in the area for a short time. Anyone have a good OBGYN they would recommend? I prefer a female but really just want a good doctor..

What can I do next?

Dr. Cummings. He's known for being very open to unmedicated births and has an almost midwife-like manner.

Or have you considered using a certified nurse-midwife? They are wonderful, have a OBGYN backup to refer you to if you become higher risk, and you always see the same person! They'll be with you through your entire labor and birth, not just pop in at the end to catch the baby. Something to consider, it's free to have a consultation. Jean Sala from Innana Birth Center is in Denton.

Hi M.,

I had my little girl last Oct and I used Dr. Christina Dooley. I would highly recommend her. My sister-in-law is pregnant with twins right now and she is also using her. I had the best experience. Her office is located on Scripture in Denton. Email me if you want more info. Or you can look her up on the Presby Hospital website.

When I first moved to Denton I also needed a OB/GYN and found Caring for Women. They are affiliated with Denton Regional Hospital and their offices are across the street from it. My doctor is Monica Popov; she's wonderful!! I've also seen Dr. Laura Finger. There are four doctors in the practice, 3 of which are female. I can't say enough good things about them. Here's the link to their website so you can check them out. www.cfwdenton.com

Like Jill, I also use Dr. Indrani Reddy###-###-####). I started going to her nearly three years ago, very shortly after she opened her private practice, and I just can't say one negative thing about her or her staff. I am a high risk OB patient due to several miscarriages, preterm labor, and a host of other obstetrical issues. Right now, I'm 23 weeks pregnant, I've had regular contractions on two occassions, and was able to speak directly to Dr. Reddy within five minutes of calling in after hours on both occassions. I've had a few issues arise during office hours and have been seen virtually immediately. With my history, that is extremely important to me. In addition to just being a great doctor, she is very personable, warm, and caring - I've referred a couple of friends to her and they have been happy as well. She does take all her own call during the week, but on some weekends she shares call with Caring for Women.

Love Dr Reddy. Her office is at Denton Regional. She takes all her own call, takes time for all your questions. Easy to get appointment. Ultasounds at every prenatal appointment. Great office staff. ###-###-####I believe her web address is www.dentonobgyn.com

I used to go to Caring For Women, but always had to wait, sometime up to 3 hours to be seen for my appointment and then usually saw a different Dr each time I was there. I do think the Drs at Caring for Women are very good at what they do, and I would have no problem with any of them delivering my baby. Just had bad experiences with my office visits and the clinic staff. Good luck to you!
