My adult brother recently passed away from an accidental drug overdose. My parents have been through the wringer with him for the past 15 years. They are having great difficulty with handling this and other related issues. Does anyone know of any good support groups and/or counselors/drs who specialize in this type of grief in the Triangle area? Or possibly any churches who offer this type of support? My mother had found a highly recommended psychiatrist but she is not taking any new patients. Any leads would be greatly appreciated! I am very concerned for their mental, and thus physical health. Thank you!

Thank you for your recommendations of therapists and groups. I have given my parents all of your suggestions and hopefully they will find a good fit with someone who can guide them through this difficult time. Thank you also for your condolences!

I don't know of any support groups personally, I just wanted to express my condolences to you and your family. I can't imagine the immense pain of losing a child/brother. My heart goes out to all of you. I hope you get some good suggestions.

I'm sorry to hear about your family's loss. Check out griefshare.org and click on Find a Group. There you will be able to locate a GriefShare group in your area. It's a wonderful Christ-center program for those going through grief.

God bless your family.
