My daughter is moving into an unfurnished house and I need to a) furnish her bedroom and b) pitch in to furnish rest of house.. Any good furniture outlets in Boulder or surrounding areas (Denver?).

What can I do next?

Try ARC thrift stores, habitat for humanity stores as they get all sorts of cool furniture, American Furniture warehouse has great furniture at a fraction of the cost too. Hit garage sales even. I would always buy a bed brand new but anything else can be super cool, another persons trash can be a treasure!

also, she'll love U for this- IKEA.com. It's cheap, modern. We don't have one in Bldr but it's very mail-order.

There's also a Target. U can buy it online & she can pick it up.

The thrift stores mentioned are great.

If money is no object (haha) Denver offers Denver Mattress Company and American Furniture Warehouse. New, more money but not high-end outrageous. But if she's going to stick around & keep this furniture after then why not invest in something nice now? Once I settled down I got rid of my mismatched used stuff and bought the things I really liked. I thought then that I should have invested in good pieces one at a time and enjoyed them long ago vs. having mediocre throughout.

Either way, you're a sweet, generous mom...

Hi C.!

Your daughter is going to LOVE Boulder. It's hip, environmentally saavy, and there are tons of great deals to be had.

I would recommend

1. Craigslist! This will be helpful for big items, beds, furniture, etc. Check the Boulder and Denver areas though, some people from Boulder still post in Denver, but we have our own CL now. Areas close enough that you can
buy in are Longmont, Louisville, Superior, Westminster, Lafayette, Lyons.

2. Savers! It's a thrift store but this place is AWESOME...sometimes you can find pretty good furniture, but it's not the best for sofas. I would focus here for kitchenware, dressers, small appliances, dishes, curtains, sheets, towels, etc. I just got a almost new Bodum french press and a like new Cuisinart sautee pan for less than a few dollars each here just the other day.

3. Salvation Army. They are having great sales right now due to college kids moving into the dorms. :) They usually have pretty nice stuff and it's great for furniture. Not so good with dishes, linens, etc.

The thing to keep in mind about Boulder, there is a lot of money here, and the second hand stores are packed with NICE stuff. Name brands and high quality for a fraction of the cost.

If you are buying new, I'd check American Furniture Warehouse.

Good luck!
