10 to15 a hour is always good pay. Im a nanny looking for a job.im 21 and i have been a nanny for about 9 year i have been watching kids all my life.
Hi - I am having trouble bringing my friend here from Nicaragua to be my nanny. So, I'm looking for alternatives. I need someone who can stay overnight with my 2 year old when I travel (I'm away maybe 50 days a year). I also don't know how much to pay a nanny. Any information would be greatly appreciated!

I paid $10 an hour for a 60 year old "professional" nanny. she had been a nanny for 20 years.
she did almost all of my laundry and housework. I was pregnant most of the tiem I had her so I just didnt have the energy to do housework.
Hi M.,
I am also a single mom so I know the anxiety behind trying to find someone (especially overnight.) I have been a nanny for 19 years as well so I can answer some of your questions. I am currently seeking a job so I have become an expert on pay and what people expect. You can pay a live-out nanny $10-15 an hour. If you can at least go $12 you can get someone with a little experience. Benefits of any kind are big pulls but you don't have to offer it right up front. If someone offers to pay taxes and Soc.Sec or health insurance it really is appreciated. I only want the jobs that I can claim on my taxes and for some reason those are few and far between. You want to be semi-professional about it without being cold to the needs of the nanny as well. I know it is alot to think about but be direct about your expectations and ask them what kind of job works best for them. Safety is the biggest issue so make sure they have CPR and first aid. There are a ton of web sites as well if you just want to log on to check out pay and expectations or use them for your search. I'll be honest, I'm registered on a bunch but I'm not sure as a mom how I feel about them. enannysource.com, gonannies.com, nannies4hire.com, nannypoppinz.com
Good luck with your search.

M.,
I pay $500/week for a live-out nanny who works 'business hours' (7:30am - 4:00/5:00pm), usually 45 hours a week. Including 2 weeks paid vacation and 5 holidays. I think this is pretty average for someone with minor to moderate experience and some college education (or currently in college).
Times are tough, so you should have no problem finding a nanny. There are so many people looking for jobs.
Web sites that I used in my search:
Craigslist
www.gonannies.com
There are several local agencies you can use as well. I did not use them because of the expense.
You might also want to look into an au pair if you have room in your house.
