Looking for a Pediatrician in Tampa who will work with us on our sons delayed vacination schedule. We have a very heathly 3 year old who is "behind" on his vacinations. We are looking for a Pediatrician who understands our concerns about certain vacinations and who will work with us as we slowly administer them. Any other Moms out there with the same concerns about vacinations and who has found a pediatrician in Tampa who will work with them?

What can I do next?

I would suggest you meet with Dr. Perkins at Pediatric Health Care on Fletcher near USF. She has been helpful in the past when we've decided not to jump to antibiotics or continue bfing past two years. Delayed vacs were not an option for us since my son attends preschool. I hope you find the right doc for your family.

You might also find the moms at mothering.com have a suggestion for you.

Hi, I notice a previous reference to Pediatric Healthcare Alliance Brandon. My daughter went to the Tampa office near St. Josephs Hospital. I am sorry I forget the street as it has been a while, but the care was super and the doctors understanding to your needs. My daughter saw Dr. Patrick Yee, highly recommended to us by nurses and staff at All Children's Hospital. We now see his colleuge in St. Pete. Best of luck.

This probaby won't help your case, but I too had the same situation with my daughter. I live in Pinellas county though. My daughter was also behind on her immunizations. All I have done was take her to the Pinellas County health department, and they had given her all of her shots, slowly. The did slowly administer them, just so you know. So, I hope this helps you. Most pediatricains should understand your concern and do it that way anyway.

I don't live in Hillsborough anymore, but when we did about a year ago, we took my daughter to Pediatric Healthcare Alliance in Brandon. It was a great place and the staff was nice. They have offices all around tampa bay and you can check out their website for a location and more info at www.pedialliance.com

Hello K.,

I found a holistic pediatrician who views our concerns on vacinations the same way. The only barrier is that only some insurances cover it. For example, I have a PPO BCBS with a $800.00 deductible and after that it covers 70% of the visits. Just to give you a heads up, the first visit was $360.00-a little steep- but he spent an hour and half with us going over all our concerns and getting to know our daughter. His name is David Berger and his website is http://www.wholisticpeds.com/
Hope this helps.

I have taken my 11 month old son to Healthpoint Pediatrics on W. Virgina Avenue, just south of MLK since birth. He sees Dr. Bordon who was an instant favorite since my 14 year old stepson had to see him for an infection that resulted from a cut. Although he will very generously answer all of your questions, he treats the child as an equal and ask them all of the questions. He is so great and patient with my baby. All of the Dr.'s at Healthpoint are great but Dr. Bordon is an overall favorite. There never seem to be any long waiting times and all of the administrative and medical assistants are great! Although, I do not have the same problem as you, I do recommend you see Dr. Bordon for your needs because he would no doubt treat your child with the upmost sensitivity.

We had the same problem with my boyfriends daughter. I took her to Dr. Q...... on N. Dale Mabry. He is great! Very involved and listens to any problems you may be having. His assistant is great too. Sorry, I forgot his name because I couldn't pronounce it. It is in a business shopping center across from a nursing home, next to a child's therapy center. When you first turn in off the road, there is a walk in clinic. All info. is in phone book under pediatricians (an actual add). Good Luck!
