We recently switched from a PPO to an HMO and I'm discovering the difference. I wanted to see if anyone can recommend a pediatrician who will take an HMO near Sherman Oaks. Nearby cities of Encino or anywhere in the Valley are appreciated.
I recently found the difference between a PPO and an HMO as well.Ugg! But finally found a great pedi's dr., Dr. Grace Mussa at @ HealthCare Partners Medical Group in Van Nuys on Sherman Way. ###-###-#### She is very open to your own desires as far as vacc.'s, breastfeeding, etc. and has been great with my boy. You could try the Salimpour practise on Ventura by Sepulveda. They are great and they take Medi-cal so I am sure they will take HMO's too.
We go to Valley Pediatrics (Dr. Shulman mentioned below). Don't know if they take HMO but we love it there. If you call they'll tell you. ###-###-####
Dr. Lavin's office takes HMO at the Encino-Tarzana Hospital off of Ventura and almost Reseda Blvd. The pediatricians are great! The office staff is okay. Some are very nice and helpful, others seem like they would rather be somewhere else...
But I love the doctors there. We have been seeing Dr. Mouradian for about 3 years now and she is wonderful with my girl and boy.

Hi B. - I am not sure if my pediatrician takes HMO insurance or not but it is worth the call. They are in Encino on Balboa, his name is Dr. Peter Shulman, ###-###-####. I have seen other doctors in their practice occasionally and I can tell you...they are all great.
