My daughter used ECI at first but it was a waist of time.

We now use Therapedia in Southlake.
http://www.therapediacenter.com/

She went in at 19 months and knowing only 5 words. Three months later she knows 15 words and new sounds and hand movements to express herself. It is much easier to communicate with her now. She picks up a new word a week sometimes two a week!

I LOVE THERAPEDIA!!!!! They are kind and adjust the teaching to your individual child special needs and likes. My daughter has sensor issues so they tend to teach in a way that draws her attention using lights, music and props like bubbles and pictures with hand movements. I also use them for her Physical Therapy...

My son just started putting sentences together with in just days after he started seeing her. He also started saying yes and understanding the meaning the same day she taught him that. She is absoutely Wonderful.

Good Luck and I hope this helps.

I am a speech-language pathologist, but out in Frisco, which may be a bit far for you. You might want to try the ASHA web site (www.asha.org). You could put in your zip code, and it will give you a listing of certified SLPs in your area.

Speech-language pathology is a huge field, meaning it covers many areas of communication concern. Whomever you call, I strongly suggest that you question that SLP about her experience with whatever challenges your child faces.

Your child is so fortunate that you are seeking early intervention. He will only benefit from your efforts to help him become a more efficient communicator.

Best Regards,
S. Ambers
