Hi V.,
Call my travel agent Lorrie Nash at ###-###-####. She is wonderful & knowledgeable about Disney vacations & all of their properties. Tell her D. sent you.
Does anyone have suggestions on hotels to stay at on the Disney property in Orlando? We just need a place that's close and has a shuttle to the parks. I'm assuming that staying on the Disney property would be the easiest, but probably the most expensive too! Any ideas?

After all the great suggestions, we chose to stay at Disney's Pop Century. Everything went fabulously! What a great hotel! I would suggest it to anyone. As everyone said, we weren't at the hotel much, espcecially because the weather was so chilly, but the space was just fine for sleeping and eating in the morning. I would definitely go there again to enjoy the hotel when it's warmer.

Staying on the disney property is probably your best bet. You have free shuttle service to all the parks as well as extra magic hours- they let you into a different park each day early and one stays open late at night too. it is amazing. the all star hotels run from 79-99 a night you can fit 4 people in one room. the next tier up start at 139. we just stayed at the pop century ( in the all star pricing budget property) it is new centrally located has a nice pool the buses are right out in front of the hotel. Our 1 year old had a blast. I never thought we would take our son until he was at least 5. Well he is 22 months and has been to disney twice. This was my 25th trip to Disney if you want more specific information I would be happy to help.
I would highly suggest staying at the Polynesian. We had a wonderful experience when we took my then 2 year old to Disneyworld. You are right on the Monorail and it takes you to all the parks and also to the Grand Floridian and the Contemporary. You are also walkable distance to the shuttle for Epcot and whatever else in Disney you would like to see. My daughter got to have breakfast with Lilo & Stitch and also Pluto. Their motto is "Ohana" which means Family.
Our room was Huge- 2 queen beds and a large very comfortable sleeper sofa. The TV is flat screen and Mounted- Very Nice.
If you stay here make sure you ask for a room in the newer section- the rooms are bigger, hallways are wider. They have 2 pools. One has slides and games and the other was a little more quiet when we were there. I would also purchase the meal plan. It was worth the money and definitely saved us money.
Let me know if you have any other questions.

All hotels have shuttle or van service to take you to the park and pick you up so you can stay anywhere. Have fun
Stay at one of the All-Star resorts. We have always found them to be very reasonable.. we were last there about 4 years ago and it was about $89.00 per night. But, they have a shuttle bus right in the hotel that takes you everywhere Disney.. and there is no charge for it.. so you save a ton of money on parking and gas! You are basically only at your hotel to sleep.. at least that was what we found... so who cares if it is the most expensive hotel there or the cheapest. It was very clean, very family friendly, had all of the stuff you would want.. food, shopping, pools.. the rooms all have themes if that is of interest. Have a great time!!
We just stayed at the Nick Jr. hotel in Orlando in February (www.nickhotel.com). It is a kid's paradise with the Nick Jr themes, two fun pool areas, an arcade, activities, ... My husband and I appreciated that they have two bedroom areas - one for the kids (we have a 5 year old and 2 year old) with twin beds or bunk beds, and one for the adults (we had a king size bed). Plus it had a little living space and small refrigerator and microwave. They also have a restaurant on site, plus a breakfast buffet and several snack kiosks.
The property is very close to Disney World. It only took us about 5 minutes to drive there (and then ~30 minutes to park and use the parking tram to get to the ticket area).
The hotel does offer a shuttle to most of the parks, but the schedule didn't work well with nap time for our two year old, so that's why we drove. The shuttle schedule is on the website.
I think we paid about $245/night. That was on the inexpensive side of the Disney properties that I checked, and we were willing to pay that for the separate bedrooms.
The hotel really worked out well for us. I definitely wouldn't choose it for an adult getaway, but our kids loved it, and they were still on the young side to appreciate all the activities.
FYI, we've also stayed on a Disney property and we thought it was very nice. However, they don't have a lot of properties with 2 bedroom "suites" and the ones that do are quite expensive for those rooms.
Good luck and enjoy!

You really can't go wrong with any of the Disney resorts, though some are geared more toward adults in my opinion (like the swan and dolphin). We have stayed in a bunch of them, but since we've had our children we've only stayed in the All Star because it was so much cheaper. The hotel itself is pretty crappy/basic, but we were hardly there at all, pretty much just to sleep and swim a little. If you really like lounging around the hotel I would stay at a nicer one. If I could afford it I would stay the Key West resort condos, we did that when I was in college and I can't stop thinking how great it would be to have all that space and a kitchen!!
I would suggest checking out the All-Star resorts on the Disney property. I have stayed at the All-Star Music resort twice in the last 5 years and found it to be reasonably priced and covenient for shuttles to all of the parks. They have a swimming pool shaped like a piano and one like a guitar. If you buy a drink mug from the resort you get free refills of drinks for your entire stay and it also makes for a nice souvenier. The other 2 resorts are All-Star sports and All-Star cartoons.
I suggest Hampton Inn hotels there very affordable and decent plus they provide shuttle services to most of the parks. There several in the Disney area. Plus they serve a continental breakfast but it really is more like a buffet breakfast, small but good and it saves you money too! Hope you have fun!!
We're planning a trip there in June with my parents, too. My mom just spoke with a travel agent who recommended the Beach Club Resort. I've actually stayed there before (about 10 years ago). It was really nice and right next to EPCOT. Easy/free transportation to WDW. I've also stayed at the Contemporary (on the monorail) about 25 years ago. It's convenient, but from what I've heard, now considered very old. I don't think it's much less expensive than the Beach Club.
Regarding expense - consider a couple of issues. (I was just reading an article about this!)...
1. Staying in a place that's cheaper but further away - you'll have to pay for transportation/parking/etc., so it may end up being not that much less expensive.
2. How much is convenience worth to you? If you can afford a little more, do it. After having 3 kids, I will pay extra for convenience! Consider it an investment in your sanity!
Hi V.,
I've always enjoyed staying at The Caribean Beach Resort in the Park. It is close to Epcot Center. It is family friendly and very nice. They even have grandmothers that will come to your room and babysit if you want an adult evening. Yes, as usual, everything in DisneyWorld is expensive but staying inside the park is sooooo much better than outside! Good Luck
If you want to stay on the park at WDW I would highly suggest either the All-Star Hotels or Pop Century. They are reasonably priced and there are things to do there for the little one, it isn't so much as an adult hotel as they all cater to the kids. They have areas where the kids can run around outside and play with some of the things there and their pools are in funny different shapes. They also have food courts which is good for the little ones to eat at.
We just got back in October - yes staying in the park has its perks. If you are disciplined and can make it to the parks for their early-open hours (just for those staying on the property), it is SO worth your time...lines are way better. I stayed at the AllStar years ago, to me it was fine. Reviews consistently say it's full of noisy kids there, but we're in DisneyWorld, what do you expect? My mentality was that I was in DisneyWorld, appreciating the parks, not shluffing in my room. This time we stayed at Port Orleans which was nice to be by the river. The fast food they served there was not my favorite (but I was 16 weeks pregnant and just getting over morning sickness). Pool was nice for a 7-year-old, but we had a toddler and the toddler pool was lame. My husband surprised us and for the last 2 nights moved us to the Beach Club. I have now seen the greener grass on the other side - the convenience of being able to walk to Epcot, take a boat to MGM, and a pool that is truly an attraction in itself for all ages (it's a man-made sand-filled collection of pools)...very useful. Maybe one piece of advice is to try to determine which park you'd spend the most time in and pick the hotel in your budget that is most convenient to that park. Also we had a AAA membership which saved us money, gave us extra perks, and we had a travel agent to consult with on these things at the AAA office.
In any event, once you get there, ENJOY! :)
