Hi it is so funny because i have been hearing that name more and more it is Heaven spelled backwards and i love it! So Cute!
Definatley YaY!! I love the name Nevaeh. Its not a name you hear a lot. I named my daughter Kendall which wasn't very popular when I had her but its becoming more and more popular now. I personally perfer unique names over more common names. Good luck!!
I like it it's differnt and truest me i love differnt! my daughters' name is Abigail Ireland! I know the first names not original. but my husband was in love with the name. And trust me it's hard to find a middle name that sounded right with Ireland. good luck just remeber though when she's in school. and in the out side world some one will read her name and botch it every time!
good luck I hope you have an easy labor!

Hello! I'm new here and this is my first response. I really like the name. I used to read a lot of V.C. Andrews books and a character in one of her books was named Heaven Leah. I've loved it ever since! I've got two girls named Ivy Dorian and Isabella (Bella) Corrine.
The name is very unique. Congratulations on your upcoming bundle of joy!
I think it is a pretty name. I must be behind a little because I haven't heard anyone use that name before, at least not yet. I do like unique names though. My daughter is named Raeana, and if the spelling didn't help her any, now people usually don't pronounce it right either. That's okay though :)Congratulations on your due date, I'm due with another girl December 29, 2006. We plan on naming her Adelyn Marie. The story is that I saw the name on a gravestone and I thought it was so pretty, so I decided that if we had another girl then I would name her that. Good Luck with everything.
Maybe there is comfort in knowing neither Nevaeh nor Heaven are on Baby Center's top 100 for 2005. So though several people are saying it's popular, it's still not over popular like Emma. I think both are pretty. Kids can be cruel no matter what the name. I guess we just have to make our kids stronger than that. For the record ... I vote Heaven.
I think it is a very pretty and unique name. It is so hard to tell people the name that you chose before the baby is born because you don't want to hear their negative responses. I truly feel that you should go with it because that is what you chose and not worry what other people think! I would ignore the negative responses and feedback and follow your heart! Good luck!!!
Heaven backwards! It's beautiful
It's pretty, but it's not my style. It's not common here.
A lady from our church named her daughter Nevaeh, I like it, but I really like unike names. She was the only one I ever heard that name before.
I love the name!!! Namesakes are beautiful. Right on sister right on!!!
I don't like it, but it is your child, I think you can only tell if it is going to work once you see your child. Personally I think Heaven is better than Nevaeh.
But just like it was said before it is your child.
The middle name is a bit on the unique side but there is absolutely nothing wrong with that. I am partial to the name Nevaeh because its my niece's name. I think its a really cute name. Her middle name is Jade. So in short Yay
I think it's beautiful. I would pronounce it NA-VAY-AH, but you can pronounce it any way you want! My girls have unique names and I think this one is unique. The only other place I've heard it in the POD guy's daughter and I'm pretty sure he pronounced it the above way. Though by virtue of sharing a celebrity's daughter's name, you may find the name becoming more popular. The main thing is - when you see your daughter's face, you'll know if it's the right name or not. If you and your husband 'feel it" then it's right. Congratulations on your new little one.
PS: My family was highly opposed to my oldest daughter's name (she's now 11), however, many of the loudest protesters have now come back and said, "I can't imagine any other name for this kid." She has to correct pronunciation and spelling on almost a daily basis - but she loves it. She loves having a name no one else has. I say - who cares if the doctor's office doesn't know how to say her name the first few times? They'll get it eventually (and if they don't - again - who care?) And, her teachers will definitely get it - eventually. I think she'll enjoy explaining the story of her name.
Neveah is a beautiful name, and is also genius to spell heaven backwards to give a name to a child which is a gift from God as all children are!
This is a name that is growing very much in popularity. I worked on the Labor/Delivery floor and that name was used quit often. More and more so in the past year. I actually first heard the name on a TV movie quit a long time ago. But this is something you should be confident in before you choose it for a lifelong name for your child.
I think it sounds great! I love the middle name Uncommon names are more fun...but beware of the troubles :) We named our daughter Lelia (rhymes with Delia) and our family and friends still can get it wrong at times!
I personally don't like it. I have nothing against unique names...and I kind of like Mardell (as a middle name). I think if you are going to have an unusual name you should at least spell it in a way that people will pronounce it correctly most of the time. But you should do what makes you happy.
It is a very popular name right now, but it is always your choice. This is your child. Good luck!
I love the name Neveah! My husband and I are expecting a girl in about 2 weeks. That would have been my top choice for a name. I have a friend who has a puppy named Neveah and I didn't want my daughter to share the same name. My favorite part about the name is that it is heaven spelled backwards. So, enjoy your little slice of heaven. :-)
I say yay!! I love names that are unique!! That is really pretty!!
I wouldn't name my child that but I think it sounds just fine. Are you OK with constantly correcting people who say it or spell it wrong? I got fancy (lol) with my daughter Rachael's name by sticking that extra a near the end. Drives me bonkers (short drive) when people spell it Rachel or when they see her name and say Rah-kell (not sure how they get that from Rachael) Anyway, just something to consider. Congrats on your daughter.
I like it. Just be aware there will be many mispronunciations--such as Neva with a long e. Congratulations!!! :)
it's okay, but the spelling is a little hard. When she gets older, she's going to have to spell her name out a lot for people who dont know how to spell it. I know this because of how my name is spelled-W.. It does get annoying after a while.
i think that is a very pretty name.
if you have to put the pronunciation next to it then maybe it will be a hard name for your child to get used to. kids can be harsh on other kids for being the least bit different...but names are the biggest target. have you ever noticed that certain children are judged by teachers even before the school year starts..just by a name on a paper....people expect a child to be a certain way just based on their name....sooooo if you can deal with that and you can be sure you can raise a child who can deal with it, then so be it. name your child anything you like.
I think a name comes down to what you and your husband like, how it fits into your family, your region, and mostly...what you and your husband prefer.
I've been reading the responses that say it's very popular...I've NEVER heard it. Perhaps it's popular in the midwest?
I mispronounced the name myself just in reading the post (eg: Nev-ay-uh) -- which is also the brand name of bottled water. I have a strong suspicion that anyone not familiar with the name will mispronouce it. Remember that anything unfamiliar warrants a lifetime of teasing in school.
Mardell? last name? family name? certainly not the middle name....?
Something that works well for us is going outside the house and yelling the name in entirety as if calling a roaming child to dinner...if you still like after that, go with it.
Personally, I hate it. I read it and thought: Ew. Of course, one can always say: Well at least it's not Pilot Inspektor Riesgraf Lee like Jason Lee's kid.
I think it will be hard for people (teachers, doctor's offices, etc.) to pronounce throughout her life. She may have to spell annd pronounce it over and over again.
It's different. Sounds alright. Why don't you name her something close to Macayla's name. Nevaeh is cute. How did you think of Mardell? Oh, Congratulations.
I think that having a name that is not as popular as the norm is a good thing. When people hear a name they recall either a good memory about a person with the same name and they will carry those good thoughts to the person you are meeting. On the other hand I have never liked the name Crystal (or other spelliings of the like) so every time I meet a Crystal then I remember all the bad things and almost instantly don't like that person. I know it is unfair but I am being honest. If your baby girl has an unusual name then people will more than likely have more of an open mind and no preconceptions about her personality. I hope that made sense. :) Nevaeh is a pretty name. I wish you all the best.
I say that if that is what you want to name your child, then that is what you should name your child.
Just keep in mind that aggrivation that comes along with having to constantly correct mispronunciations or misspellings...and it is aggrivating. My son's name is Deacon. Doesn't look hard to say, does it? Dee-cun. But we have people call him all kinds of weird stuff! And when they hear it and try to spell it, look out! D-e-k-e-n...or D-e-e-c-a-n. It gets old. ( I can't imagine my son with any other name, though, to be honest!)
At any rate, it is ultimately your decision...pick something that you (and your kid) will be happy with...She will have that name forever...Make it good!
I like the name Neveah... but do not like the name Mardell. It sounds like a boys name.
Yes that name is okay. It's very pretty
that sounds really nice. I like it cause it's different too.
I really like it. I think the first name is inventive and unique (even though you got the idea from another child) and the middle name is wonderful. I love having family names as middle names and I think your daughter will love it when she gets older. To be connected to another generation is amazing! Also, congrats on getting your husband to have an opinion. Mine doesn't seem to care at all. Good luck and enjoy little Nevaeh!
You need to do what feels right to you. You may not know what that is until you meet your child. My husband and I got a lot of comments about the unique name we chose for our son before he was born (saying that he would have problems in school with kids making fun of his name and so on). We stuck with the name and he does not have any problems whatsoever that way and he loves his name! If you love the name and it fits your child, then I say go for it! People will get used it and family and friends will love your child for the special person she is regardless of her name. I think the name is pretty. I have heard it before and think it is becoming more popular. I like Mardell too. I would definitely consider Mardell (as first or middle name) since that name is so special to you.
Sounds pretty. Go with it!!
I totally love the name!! Only one thing to keep in mind is that you are going to have to put "(navah)" behind everything you write her name on if you expect it to be pronounced correctly all the time. I named my oldest daughter Zoe (as in rhyming with Joey) and you would be amazed how many people say it to rhyme with Joe. But I think it is a beautiful original name.
I think the name Neveah is pretty...even backwards, Heaven sounds beautiful!!
I have heard of this name before and I really like it. I don't think it should matter whether or not people say it wrong or spell it wrong...it's your choice and you should pick what you feel is right. To this day, people say my name wrong, but I wouldn't have any other name. I gave my daughter and unique name and people say and spell it wrong too, but she (who is 9) has always corrected them and never had any problems with it. I received some criticize over my daughter's name from friends and family, but I really didn't care because I loved the name. So, just go with what you feel is right and it will be the perfect choice!
Hi M.,
I like the name - if you're prepared to have it mispronounced all the time.
My daughters name is Neva (with a short e - sounds like slang for Never)and people call her Neeva (with a long e). It kind of drives me crazy but I guess that's what happens when you give your child a unique name.
The way you are spelling it - I have heard it pronounced nuh-vay-uh. I've even seen this name and spelling in the gift databases and personlized items in stores.
I say go for it! Unique is so much better than common.
L.
Personally, I think it's a bit confusing.Maybe you should change the spelling. Nayva is very pretty written in cursive.
THE NAME IS NOT REALLY FOR ME, BUT YOU CAN'T GO BY THAT. I TO LIKE DIFFERENT NAMES, SO IF IT IS SOMETHING YOU LIKE GO FOR IT.
You know that it spells Heaven backwards, right?
I think it's a very pretty name personally. I know of one already. And have considered it should I get pregnant in the future.
If you like it...then choose it...
but remember this name will be with her forever...
sometimes as parents that we think something is
beautiful..may not be so to our children....
kids can be cruel at times....the name is lovely...
i will admit that....its different as well...
but make sure its something you can live with
after you decide :)
This is a beautiful name. I have a friend who daughter is named Nevaeh. And my sister was going to name her daughter that too.
I think the name is very pretty. I do think it will be mispronounced often though. THere are several little girls around here named Nevaeh (Heaven backwards)but they are pronounced Ne-vay_ah so I'm thinking your little one might get called that.
I think that it is a wonderful name. The more unique the better. When I had my oldest daughter Kylee, there really werent that many Kylee's with the same spelling. 5 years later, I am seeing them all of the time with the same spelling. I say go with it. Don't worry what everybody else says, its your child, you can name it whatever you want. The best part is that her name is Heaven spelled backwards, and that is what she is, a gift from Heaven. So I say go with it.
Great choice. I wish my husband would agree to a name like that! It is a very pretty name and I'm sure your daughter will be the same.
Good luck.
Yes! I love it! I think its innovative and not 'too weird.' :) However, when I read it -- it really looks like it's pronounced
"nah vey ya" Which I love too. :)
I like the concept of the name. as some of the other posts have said.. It is becoming more and more popular. My theory is the more unique the better, I named my daughter Daelene ( like Darlene, but change the "R" to an "E".She is constatly called Darlene, I just correct them. LOL
Ok I got Off the subject, sorry.
Point is she is your child you can name her what ever you would like. If you like the name got for it
Follow your instincts and do what is best for your family. Personally, I never shared my name ideas because my experience with names is that anyone and everyone felt the need to give their opinion (even though the person wasn't asking for it). So we kept it hush until the arrival and then when they heard the name (and since it was already the official name) they didn't feel the need to critize it if it wasn't their favorite. :)
I will caution you with the unique spelling. My oldest son is BRANDAN because I took the first three letters of my husband's name (Bradlee) and combined it with the first three letters of my Dad's (Daniel). If you look at the spelling...when you add the "n" in the middle you can see and stuck in the middle of the name. I thought it was cute (and still do) but it is constantly misspelled. Despite that, I wouldn't have done it differently.
My cousin named her daughter Nevaeh and beyond the initial "what???" it has been very well received.
Best wishes!
K.
I love it! it is unique and pretty. Good luck with her, I just had agirl 3 months ago. I named her June Lilium. Lilium is the scientific name for the flower lily. so she is my June Lily.
K.
Love the name!! Why not be one-of-a-kind?!
If you want to be really different, name her Heaven. Nevaeh is common anymore, plus it is heaven backwards, who wants to be in heaven backwards? Just a Christian perspective...Good luck.
The name is unique and beautiful!!! I named my daughter Danay and many people took forever to learn how to pronounce it.I did not think (Da)(nay) was hard compared to the other spelling of Danae. Several times she was called Danny. When it comes to names the choice is yours whether others like it or not!!!!!!! So CONGRATS to your soon to be Nevaeh!!!!
It is very popular right now. I think she will run into more kids with that name than you think.
Go for it! I am not gonna lie and say I haven't heard of it before, but...I will be honest and say that I haven't met HER yet and that is what matters!
My husband and I asked for everyone' opinions on our first child and it effected what we decided (although we came up with a name that we love) On our second we decided to tease people with name idea's, so as not to make them feel left out, but we knew in our hearts when it came down to it...their opinion made no matter, when he was born we came up with a name that fit so perfectly with him, us and our family, and when people throw their opion my way on my boys names I politely thank them, and in my mind am fully assured that what I picked, no matter the name, is PERFECT!
And the name you have picked will be too!
Navaeh is a very pretty name. At least you spelled it right. I know a lady who named to daughter that but spelled it all weird and it sounds dumb. But this being spelled the right way sounds very beautiful!!
its a beautiful name.
