Maybe one of those foam toppers??? We have those on a bed upstairs that was HORRIBLE and it made it where you could spend a night or two on it without staying awake all night.
We have a sofa that is about 1.5yrs old. It has a pull out bed. We have only used the bed a few times. It is uncomfortable!!! It was NOT a cheap sofa but the pull out mattress seems cheap. When you lay on it you can feel every spring. What can I do to make this thing more comfortable? We will be having guest further along in my pregnancy. I want my guest to have a comfortable bed to sleep on.

Go the the Vermont country store web site and check out light weight bed boards. They will help alleviate the sagging under the mattress which will help. And, as someone else suggested, a foam topper and a good quilted mattress pad help too.
Get a foam mattress topper for it? You can cover all with a quilted mattress pad.
We bought an Air Dream Mattress from overstock. Com
I am on my IPhone right now so I can't get a link. It is part air mattress and it expands to 11.5 inches thick. I think a regular sofa mattress is about 5. Pricey but much more comfortable and folds fit back in the sofa when done.
I have put a blow up mattress on top. It makes it more comfortable and keeps you off the floor.
My friend in Destin, Fla. in her condo added a form bed topper that you can get from Walmart, or Bed Bath Beyond to her Queen size blow up mattress and it made all the difference. You can just roll it up and put it in closet .
Definitely a foam topper. I got one for mine -- I think its 1.5" ? memory foam type. Mine cost $60 at Walmart and has made all the difference in the world! The sofa bed is now bearable-- and even a little comfy!
I was going to say the same thing as everyone else, lol - a topper. It made our camper beds where they are extremely comfortable, and made the sofa mattress bearable. Good luck and enjoy your guest!
