has anyone heard of Smartlipo--from what I understand it is a laser/chem technique that tightens the skin while removing fat. no surgery involved. anyone had it done?

my friend had it done. She thinks it helped, but she said she wouldn't do it again. I know it was a painless procedure.

A gal I work with had lipo done from her ribcage on down to the back of her knees. I'm not sure if it was the same technique you're referring to, she had it done in thief river. she also said it was not worth it. now she has scars on her thighs.

I don't know what you mean by "no surgery involved", smartlipo is still surgery. It's less invasive, because the instrument used is smaller, and since it liquefies the fat it can be quicker. The recovery is quicker, and there is less bruising, but it is still considered surgery. Just because you don't have to be put under doesn't mean you should classify it as no surgery involved. Personally, I think I would still want to be put under because that would freak me out. It's ideal for people who aren't significantly overweight, I think only like 25lbs, and the fat has to be localized in a certain area that hasn't been responding to exercise. So, it's not just a "quick fix" All that said, I'd say if you are thinking about it, go for it! Much cheaper than the traditional method, I think it's just not well known yet because it's relatively new (it's only been approved for about a year and a half I believe.) It'll be all over the place soon I'm sure.

I haven't heard of it, but it sounds like a nice option for those people who have lost weight and can't get rid of that extra skin. I see it as a great way to tighten my stomach pouch from having 2 c-sections. :)

YOu are born with a certain amount of fat cells -- that never changes -- the cells only expand --
when you suck some of them out the body has to compensate for having less cells
Therefore,
you can bulge in other areas -- especially if you do not eat holistically and exercise --
for example:
High fructose sugars sit and expand in the fat cells --

I've never heard of this, but I believe that nothing short of fatburning exercise will remove fat non-surgically. If it were that easy, millions of people would be doing it.
