We have Crate and Barrel's Cameron sofabed couch in microsuede. I guess we've probably owned it for about 8 years now. It's held up very, very well and we occasionally have it professionally cleaned.
Hi all,
I need help on picking out a new sofa - the one we have is about 15 years old!! I love the look of the Pottery Barn sofas - particularly the Comfort and Buchanan upholstered not slipcovered. Anyone have any experience with these sofas? I love the look and comfort of the Pottery Barn sofas, but does anyone have other recommendations? I'm hoping the next one lasts 10 years.
Thanks!!!

Whatever you do, go SIT ON IT for a long time! Take a book to the showrooms you visit, and sit there for a while. A friend bought IKEA sofas because she loved the look, but even her kids complain that they are not comfortable even for a half hour TV show. The comfort of a sofa has to do with a lot of things and the manufacturer as well as construction have more to do with it than the actual retailer who sells it. I doubt all Pottery Barn sofas are made by the same manufacturer, and remember that most sofas in large furniture retailers are available in a zillion fabrics. If you're not great at envisioning other fabrics, take a crafty friend with you who is good with color and pattern. If you are matching the sofa to other furniture, take along anything you can - a throw pillow, or even the fabric swatch that's sometimes stapled to the bottom of the chair - to help you match.
i would hope a good sofa would last 10 or 15 years! we're on 13 with ours, and just starting to think of a new one just because i'd like a change.
ethan allen sofas are the best- durable, gorgeous and insanely comfortable.
with a price tag to match.

Bassett makes furniture with similar styling to the PB products, but with real wood and made in the USA. We have a number of pieces from them now, including three sofas, and all are holding up beautifully. The stores carry a ton of fabric choices, too, so you can get a fabric that's perfect for your home.
Do you have kids - consider the color! I loved the look of my off white, fluffy, comfy, fabric couches. That was until I had a kid! I would recommend leather if you have a few kids!
Our couch is 15 years old. Is that bad? Your exclamation points make it sound atrocious that it is that old. I just assumed furniture was supposed to last for a while. Just wondering how often people replace furniture like that...
Ethan Allen. Hands down.
My mom has her EA couch and chairs from over 25 years ago and they are wonderfully made. We are reupholstering them (my sis and I are still "debating" about who gets the chairs) and continue to use them.
A friend has a PB couch and it has held up wonderfully, but it is a slip cover one. I know with her cats, she has replaced slip cover twice in 12 years.
We love LazyBoy and Haverty's.
I've never purchased PB furniture, so I can't tell you.
Our LazyBoy is 15 years old and still looks great - the fabric is holding up and I have two boys and a dog that use it EVERY DAY.
I like the ones with a chaise lounge built in AND recliners built in.
I have one big couch with both of these features.
It is amazing and fantasic! Comfy. I highly recommend it.
Btw, I never bought a Pottery Barn sofa only because they seemed overpriced. I did, however, buy from a popular but reasonable furniture store.
We love our Leather Trend. We have had our furniture for about 10 years, and it still looks great, after 2 boys and a dog and cat. Sorry I don't know anything about the Pottery Barn furniture.

I have the love seat with the left hand chaise in denim.
This is a very comfortable set. I've had these since 06 and they have held up very well to kids and animals. :)
Our sofa is a La-z-boy sofa and it's about 6 yrs old.
Our son is 14, he's been hard on it - wooden supports have broken and screws fall out.
It's not like he jumps on it but he flops down on it and the sofa is just not holding up.
We're not getting a new one till he's gone off to college.
I'm not sure what we'll get then but I'm not sure I'd go back to La-z-boy.
It's comfortable furniture but I want something that lasts - I'd LIKE to go 15 yrs without buying new furniture!
