Speaking of New Year's Resolutions...have You Kept Yours?

It took me a while to figure out what my resolution was going to be. I typically don't make them because I always say "Work out" and I never do that! This year I decided my resolution was going to be to try not to waste food. I feel like the night before garbage night I throw out so much food. I've been doing really really good! Kind of proud of myself.

How about you ladies? Are you sticking to your resolutions?

What can I do next?

I resolved to stop losing my temper with my kids and I have kept it up! It seems like calm begats more calm...the more I am patient with them, and the more I speak calmly and respectfully to them (but still firmly, we have rules after all), the easier it is to continue to do. I am inordinately proud of myself. Good for you for not wasting food, that's an admirable resolution indeed.

I made a couple of resolutions and so far so good. Instead of resolving to lose 20 lbs, I decided to resolve to lose 2lbs/month - (24lbs - LOL). January's looking good and the goal of 2lbs is SO much more doable than 20lbs, even though it'll amount to the same thing. My steps are: smaller portions, a bit of exercise, and healthier and/or small "naughty" snacks. It's really great. And I found that keeping a bowl of fruit out where I can see it all the time reminds me to snack healthier, even if it isn't from the bowl of fruit itself. Yeah!

I haven't started mine yet! We were supposed to start on the 1st, but that got pushed back to the weekend and to the 15th and well, you know! I'm seriously about to stop procrastinating and get started.... NOW. Wait not yet. I wasn't ready. Ok maybe later. lol

So far I am still doing mine I said to lose about 15lbs. I lost about 5 lbs but have cheated here and there. But still losing weight so don't feel to bad about it. I got some to go and wouldn't mind even more.

Resolutions are usually dumped when they are so non-specific. So, make a concrete, detailed promise to yourself. Instead of "lose 20 pounds" you might say, I will walk up and down my staircase 5 times, 6 times a day. Course, you have to begin with 2 times a day and work up. This is what I'm doing.

Once that is a good habit, then I'll do something like: Add one regular veggie to my grocery/eating list and drop one item (like white bread) for all but 2 meals a week.

That specific.

Well, one of mine I started in November. I have been going to the gym and doing cardio 3x/week before work. So far I love it, wish my schedule allowed for 5-days a week. I just feel so much better and have so much more energy on the days I exercise!

My second one I haven't started yet. My husband and I are doing Dave Ramsey's financial peace classes in a few weeks. Heard lots of good things, really excited to hear what he has to say and make some positive changes!

My New Year's resolution was to show/tell my hubby more often how much I appreciate him and what he does for our family.
So far so good :) Had a "date night" (actually morning) where I got my old massage table out and gave him the massage of his life! I try to tell him everyday thank you for working so hard or taking out the garbage or plowing the driveway or putting the kids to bed, etc.
