Hi ladies, so I was cooking dinner, barefoot but long jeans on. As I was cooking, I felt almost like a sharp burning pin prick on top of foot almost by ankle. I instantly rubbed area with other foot and thought maybe some grease got on foot, however when I looked down my jeans covered half the top of foot and completely covered area where I felt it. I minute or so later I felt it again, that sharp burning pin prick sensation, it would hit then be gone. It did this several times. I sat down to eat and looked and thought I saw a bite mark, I asked my husband and he said yes it looks like a spider bite, 2 red marks. It is not hurting anymore, but itches and kinda feels a lil weird, but now freaking out. I am sure its just a regular spider, but how would you know if its more? We have had black widows outside our house. I have no idea what it looked like did not see spider at all, so has anyone been bite by poisonous spider like black widow and what were symptoms? I goggled spider bites, just thought I would get input from you ladies.
Thanks is advance

So What Happened?

Thanks everone for responses. There is 2 very distinct bite marks close together thsts why O assumed spider. Besides it having that sharp burning sinsation in beginiging thst has stopped, it is a little red, and still itches, but think thst it must not be poisonous. I put some bug bite cream on it to help itching and will take some Benadryl as well. Thanks for responses.

take some benadryl. if you can find the spider - great - put it in a ziploc bag and take it to the doctor with you. So they can see if they have an anti-venom...

I have not been bitten by black widow. My sister's boyfriend was at my parent's house. He got a "HALO" a red ring around the bite. Then he started throwing up. If you have any of these symptoms, go to the ER.

GOOD LUCK!! I hope it wasn't a black widow!!

Google the spiders in your area that bite people. In TX we have the brown recluse (don't know if they have them where you are) and if the bite looks like a boil within a few hours you have to get your butt to emergency. The folk remedy here is bleach on the bite sight - like clorox - to neutralize the poison. It stings, but isn't dangerous. If yours looks like a mosquito bite, then you're probably ok. Benadryl is a good idea.

Okay, well, I don't have a good track record with spider bites. I get an allergic reaction where whichever part of me is bitten (usually the leg) becomes very swollen and then I can't walk. It becomes very red and itchy and high risk for cellulitis.

The sharp burning sensation and itching means "allergic reaction." Taking Benedryl is a good idea, to help reduce swelling. I would call your doctor and go to urgent care if it's after office hours for your PCP. I would also take a ball point pen and draw a circle around the bite so that you can tell if the bulls eye gets much bigger. Each time it does, draw a bigger circle around it, okay?

Please keep a close eye on it. If it shows any signs of infection I would go directly to the emergency room. Oozing, pus, hot red skin, tenderness, fever... please keep a close eye. If the pain becomes worse or the reaction gets worse instead of better, especially the swelling and you find it's more difficult to walk and/or put shoes on and/or take on and off your pants, go to the ER. If you feel dizziness, light-headedness, take note of that too. Keep a journal of anything unusual. Take photos of the bite now so that you can keep track of any changes better.

What you are describing sounds like the same allergic reaction I get from Spier Bites.

I have found that lplacing a slice of cucumber on the bite area several times a day does temper the itch and that weirdness.I aslo spray the area with benedril spray---anti allergic spray. But if still there a week later or 5-6 days later----then go see a dr.

Spiders tend to like dark unseen places. It sounds more likely to be an ant bite to me. My guess is if you haven't started having a bad reaction by now then you are okay. Be aware of any changes and when in doubt, head to the ER.

It seems unlikely its a black widow this time of year, and especially in the house. However, just keep an eye on it. My husband was bit a few years back. While the bite itself was harmless, a bad mrsa infection set in at the bite site. Just keep your bite checked for any signs of infection.

My son got bit by a grey wolf spider not poisoneous, on his finger and he had two little visible bite marks, it swelled his finger for a couple of days and he was just fine. We put some anti itch cream on it to help him.

Since you didn't see it, you have to consider that it wasn't a spider at all. The reason I say this, is because the day of my daughter's 5 yr check-up (2 weeks ago) she woke up with a bite on her elbow that I didn't recognize as a mosquito bite, and I immediately thought spider bite! So, I show it to the Dr and gave him my assumption, and he says "Spiders get a bad rap, all bugs can bite." And I thought, how true that is! There are literally hundreds of thousands of insects and we always think it's a spider! Why?? Just food for thought.. :))
