Steam Mop - Gilbert,AZ

I want to buy a steam mop to clean my tile floors. I have been on line and read reviews but still can't decide. I don't like traditional mopping, reusing the same mop just grosses me out. Even disposable mops you still use more than once before you replace the sponge or head. The swiffer mop I don't like, tried it. I have seen washable mop heads on TV but still you have dirty mop water you dip it in.
Anyone have any opinions on steam mops? I want a quality one that will last.
Thanks.

I have a shark steamer and I think it does a very good job. The only thing is that it takes some elbow grease. It gets into corners very well. I like it because I have lots of little ones and I don't like using cleaners because I don't know what they are leaving behind.

I totally hear you on the mopping issue - I hate mopping, I hate gross mops, I hate rinsing, & I hate leaving detergent on my floor! I almost bought "The Shark" but after looking into it I found the "SteamFast" mop on walmart.com. I bought it 3 mos ago and it is AWESOME!!! It only cost me $50 but it is WELL worth it. (I think right now it's only listed for $45 at http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=7780088 - you can only buy it online, not in the store) It only uses water and it has 2 washable velcro pads. (I originally thought 2 pads wouldn't be enough, but actually for me it is so I haven't needed to be additional pads) I love not having to rinse and my floor is dry SO FAST!! I even took my mop to a friend's house for her to try it out and she loved it so much she's getting one too. She also likes the fact that it doesn't look gross like the yarn kind or the disposable sponge kind. Also, the model I bought has continuous steam (not like some other steam mops where you have to manually pump the steam).

Some of the reviews I read about my mop before I bought it were from people complaining that the water reservoir wasn't big enough to hold enough water to get the entire floor done. I don't have a huge kitchen but it's enough for me to get my whole kitchen & 1/2 my living room area done before I run out of water. So if you have LOTS of floor that needs to be mopped, just keep in mind you may have to refill the water reservoir once or twice. (which really isn't hard or anything; I have no idea why people complain!) Otherwise - I LOVE my steam mop! It heats up fast & does a great job. Good luck!!

We have the 'Haan steam mop' and ordered it from Amazon.I love it! I let my sister in law borrow it and she loved it too, that she ordered one that day. We both use it on tile and laminate wood flooring. Make sure you order extra pads, if you have laminate flooring for a streak free clean. Pads go right in the washer and air dry. It is about $100.00, on line. They did have a TV informercial on it and that is how I found out about it. Then did a search for it.It's light weight but made nice.
Good luck

Hi HC -

This seems to be a hot topic lately! :)

We use the Shark - got it at Costco because it was cheaper there and it came with 5 pads. I LOVE it! It has a little compartment for water, obviously, it's a steamer :) It's Monday - go easy on me - anyway, I didn't feel like just plain old water was enough clean for me, so I add a little of Mr. Clean with Lavender Fabreeze and it not only makes my home smell wonderful but my tile feels excellent!

Good Luck!

I love my steam mop!! Could never go back to the old kind - not ever!! The floor feels so clean when you are finished. No chemicals are needed as well. I used to have the Bissell but it broke and I could not find a replacement. So I bought the ProSteam from Hammel Shlemmer (I think that is how it spelled) for $100.00. It has a longer cord than the Bissell and the mop covers are way easier to get on. It also always produces steam so that you do not have to hold the button down the entire time like on the Bissell. My only complaint is that it needs to be filled up quite a few times during mopping (my whole house is tile). But all of them need to be filled fairly often and I have gotten used to that. Again, I LOVE LOVE LOVE my steam mop!

I have a Hoover Floormate and love it! I have tile floors too and I think this is better than a steam mop for keeping the grout clean. I had a steam mop before the Floormate. When that broke I got the Floormate. What makes grout get dirty so fast is dirty mop water. The floormate squirts fresh clean water on the floor and then suctions it up. Each time you clean a new area of the floor you're using fresh water. It does a really good job of cleaning too. I once cleaned my kitchen floor (usually the dirtiest room in the house)twice just to see if the water in the used water tank would be dirty and it wasn't. My Floormate has been used to death and needs to be replaced. I'm going to get another Floormate. I hate mopping but love my Floormate!

We have a Homeworks steam mop and love it. Our friends had one and loved it. We had a hard time finding it, but ending up getting it on ebay. I also have friends that have the Shark steam mop and like it too. You only use water, so there is no residue or chemical smells in your house. You just throw the attachable cloth into the washing machine and air dry.

I have a Bissel steam mop. I love it. I did a test of wiping the floor with a white cloth after I mopped first with my regular mop, then with my wet swifter and then after the steam mop. The only time the floor wiped clean was after the steam mop. My only complaint is the cord is short but I have gotten used to that.

I have the shark steam mop and I hate it. It's ok for very smooth surfaces, but impossible on tile. It's awful! Hope you find something better.

I have the bissel green steam mop, and use it on my tile and hardwood floors. I think that it works great on the tile, its a little streaky on the wood floors, but cleans very well. My only complaint is that it smells very strange, so I just make sure to have a candle lit, while I am mopping. Hope this helps!

I have the same problem I hate nasty water so i bought the shark mop.. (I also have hardwood floors) It does work you can definately see the dirt & grime on the towel but the handle is so short that by the time you are done you are hurting from being slouched over.. I bought a carpet steam cleaner (bedrooms have carpet) & I use it on my tile & hard wood floors.. It works really well & of course the handles are longer & I have 1 machine to clean all 3 types of my floors.. Good Luck.

I'm not sure if the Floor Mate is considered a steam mop, but it works awesome! I have an older model and my sister has the newer one, which gets in the grout lines better.

DON'T get the Shark mop. It was a huge waste of my money. The motor broke within 2 months.
