When we turn off the air for a while 30 45 mins den turn it bak on it stinks real bad. Is there something wrong wit it? What can I do to make it smell normal? Well at least not that disgusting fish smell. It's on the roof it's has rained of and on idk I that's something and it's the one that hold straw on the sides
Do you have a gas furnace sharing the same vents? If the pilot light went out but the gas is still on it smells nasty. They add a smell to the otherwise odorless gas so you know it's there. Took me a few days to figure out what the horrid smell was in my house when it happened to me. My husband was out of town, as soon as he got back he knew right away.
Change the filter, change the straw pads and clean every part you can get to with bleach. The smell is mold. You do not want that blowing through your house.
you need to change those straw panels often and change filters once a month. check for any stagnant water. if it's on the roof, best bet would be to call the ac repairman or your landlord.
Have you checked inside to see if maybe an animal died? I know its a horrible thought, but very possible-- Maybe try some vinegar and water-that may make the smell go away-Hope you get some answers!
