Tempur-pedic Mattress Protector

Do any of you Tempur-pedic mattress owners have an opinion as to whether the mattress protector is a necessity? The company says to NOT use a regular cover, but of course it would cost us another $80+ to buy one of theirs.

I'm interested in mainly if you felt it has or has not affected the quality of sleep on the mattress. And I can see how it would be MUCH easier to remove to clean vs the zip on cover that came with the mattress. But my husband is worried that since it is waterproof it would make the bed too hot.

Thanks!

What can I do next?

I've had my tempur-pedic, with the mattress protector, for over ten years now. Fluid of all varieties invariably wind up on one's mattress, despite our best efforts. The $80 is money well spent to protect a very expensive mattress.

As for "too hot," I don't find my bed to be so, but I tend to run cold. My husband, who tends to run hot, has never complained either. We simply adjust the bedding to match the season and go with it.

Good luck!

I don't think the tempur pedic matress cover makes our bed too hot. I didn't hear not to use a regular cover, probably because we bought theirs! Lol! That said, do not NOT use one. Ours has saved our (expensive) matress countless times, most recently being this morning, when, as I was downstairs washing the sheets, my almost two year old got a hold of a chocolate kiss and left handprints on the matress cover.Thank goodness it wasn't the matress itself!

I have a knitted mattress protector that is coated on the underside and terry on the top. It does not make the bed too hot. My mattress is not a tempur-pedic but I bought it when I bought my mattress and suspect it's what you're being offered. It was around $80 in price.

I use a mattress protector to protect the mattress from stains. I didn't realize you can remove the cover on a tempurpedic mattress. I wonder, if it's like the zip on covers on upholstered furniture in that it's not recommended removing it. I suspect that you'd have a difficult time both removing it and putting it back on.

It is a good investment to have the complete enclosed cover for the Tempur-pedic as well as the top protector. I just bought a set for my son and daughter-in-laws bed, as the one they got with the bed was defective. They went back to Mattress Firm where they got the bed, and were given a new one.. FREE, because it has a 10 YEAR WARRANTY.
So I took the other one back and got my money back.

We have a tempur-pedic and had a regular mattress cover on it. We noticed that the bed was quite uncomfortable with the regular cover. I think the memory foam needs our body heat to work properly. The regular mattress cover seemed to impede that. We took the cover off, and now the mattress is comfortable again. That said, I too am worried about not using a cover, as I don't want such an expensive mattress to get ruined if something got on it.

From my understanding, the cover (or a cover) is required for the warranty (to keep it soil free), at least that's what my sales guy told me, lol.. good sales man?? Haha... I've had my bed for 4 years and just recently slept a week without it, there was no difference in the "temperature" of the mattress (definitely not the quality of sleep), so I put it back on, because the cover does really protect it from stains, especially from the oils in our skin, that will make the mattress yellow (my cover is now yellowed). I've never attempted to take off the zippered cover off of the mattress, that looks like a work out! I would go with the cover, or at least some sort of additional cover than just the zippered mattress. :)
