I'm curious to know how many of you have a tempurpedic bed?and do you have back pain? If you have one, what type do you have? How long have you had it for? I purchased the bed about 2 months ago and I'm thinking I might have to exchange for a softer one. Did anyone have this problem and what did you do about it?

What can I do next?

we've got a sleep number. i was aghast at the price ($1600 for a mid-range model) but a good night's sleep is priceless. we love it. you never again have to exchange the whole freakin' bed if you want to go softer or harder.
sorry about how dirty that sounds. :)

I have an 89 year-old elderly lady friend that invested in the Tempurpedic Bed with the promise from the store that it was 100% guaranteed.
She happens to be about 5 foot tall. When she received the bed, she found that the bed "bends" in sections that do not meet her own "bends" (knees & back), and pulls and hurts her. She had me take some photos of her trying to lay on it, with her polaroid camera, and she took the pictures back to the store. She he told them she was sorry, but she would have to return the bed, because it hurts her to use it. They said she could only return the top mattress portion for a 100% refund, but she must keep and would not receive a refund for the more expensive electric portion. But since it was the electric portion that could not use, she wanted to return the entire bed for the promised "100% guarantee". They told her that it was on the back of her contract (the sales receipt which she never signed). And there it was! Printed in yellow print, on a yellow receipt, I could almost see it! "No refund on electrical parts." So she took them to court, and after a couple of lawyers took her money, she won her only refund, and Tempurpedic came and picked up their entire bed. What a way to treat an old lady! It's not for short people!

I HATE mine!! I have suffered on it for a few years and I feel like I'm sleeping on a brick! Luckily my husband works for a huge mattress company and we are going to get a new bed:) He doesn't sleep in the bed with me so it's only fair I get the bed I want:)

I researched this and decided to go with the Costco gel memory foam 14 inch mattress. It took about 3 weeks to "break in" and I was SO upset cause it seemed to be so hard in the first week, but finally it is perfect and I'm waking with NO back pain. Other aches and pains have reduced a lot.

Economically it was a great choice - even with the membership I spent less then $800. And it was 100% no questions asked returnable, so I felt confident that if it didn't feel good after a month it could just be returned easily and I'd pick something else.

It is not hot when you sleep anymore then our spring mattress was.

I have one and love it. I used to have severe back, hip, and neck pain. No more. We have had the bed for a year now. We ended up with the Rhapsody. The ones below that were just too firm. The Cloud version ones were really soft, but we felt they were too soft for us.

My daughter and her husband bought a memory foam bed a couple of months ago. My daughter says her back hurts less but it still hurts. LOL of course she's 8 months pregnant and so can't entirely blame the bed.

She likes the firmness of the bed. Her husband would prefer a softer bed. They had a memory foam topper which they put on top of the new bed because that did make the bed softer.

If the trial period is over you could try putting a feather bed sort of topper on the mattress. Some stores allow you to exchange the mattress for a different one if you're not satisfied. I don't know how long you have to do that.

I think that there are different degrees of firmness/softness even with memory foam but I'm not sure. Go back to where you purchased it and ask about alternatives.
