A.S.
I think that's a good thing. Whatever was in there, whether it be a sickness or something that could have bothered him, got out. His body seems to be working and doing the right thing!
Okay - not trying to be gross here...my son just a had bowel movement and he said "mom - this smells funky" - so of course, being mom - I go into the bathroom and smell - his poop/bowel movement smelled like a nasty arm pit....like he had been out exercising like a man all day. Does that make sense?
I've not had this happen before so it kinda bothered me...I told him "well, all your nastiness is getting out of you!" LOL!! He's been a tad bit bossy today - not bad - just a tad bit over his brother....
Any way - I know you guys will tell me if this has happened..
I will add before I post...healthy eater...likes his veggies, milk and water. Active. Had pancakes this AM for breakfast and grilled cheese for lunch....
Tonia - thanks - he is pretty regular - we had a problem with him not pooping when he was younger because he had had one traumatic bowel movement! YIKES!!!
Didn't know that maple syrup could cause a different odor!!
THANK YOU!!!

Could be a small bug. Check for fever. Hopefully it will just pass with this being his only symptom.
btw - you had to know Anabel would say SOMETHING about the poop post right?
Hi mama! I agree prob just something he ate. Like when you eat spinach and you poop green? I figure as long as he's going he should be ok!
could just be a bug going through his system...if it was solid, i wouldn't stress over it...if it goes on for a few days - then I might worry...
It's like when eating asparagus and it makes your pee smell weird...he might have ate something.....
GOOD LUCK!!
HAHAHA I had to laugh.
I fed my family beets a couple years ago and my husband freaked out!! Beets turn your pee red. I don't think I ever laughed so hard.
So my first thought is, it's something he ate. Something yesterday, for dinner, or a snack.
You are such a good mom though.
if he has poo that starts smelling super foul, like a rancid barnyard, then he may have c-diff, clostridium difficile, which would need to be treated with antibiotics, also watch for diarrhea, these are signs of the infection. if he was on any certain antibiotics lately they can cause c-diff, plus it is highly contagious.
In primitive cultures the condition of fluids and solid waste is often tracked to keep track of health. Intake affects output. My daughter once came to me in fear because her poops was sort of purplish, but she had eaten a lot of beets. Another time it was green due to spinach. Hopefully it was just the food intake causing the funky smelling output. Don't forget a new soda or child bottled drink - my kids will try all kinds of green and blue drinks that taste like medicine to me but they seem to like it.
One bit of advice: make sure urine (of all ages not just kids) is straw colored, If it is too yellow it is an indication of being dehydrated. And as my husband found out a few years ago - being dehydrated is the MAIN cause of kidney stones. So drink lots of water, to flush the bowels and maintain kidney health!
If he used maple syrup on his pancakes, I'v noticed that affects the odor sometimes...
Sometimes when stool has stayed in the system longer than usual it smells foul. It's quite possible that if he didn't go quite as soon as he typically goes then this could be your explaination. To avoid a repeat see if he's willing to try and go on a daily basis. He might try increasing fiber (berries, salad) and avoiding constipating food (cheese, bananas) for a few days, just to get the daily cycle started.
