Let me start with a big huge THANKS to all the posts on my previous "Bulging Neck Discs" question post. The info was great. Today is the day I go in for the great "neck stabbing". I am so nervous and anxious.

Has anyone got more war stories to share with me? Good or bad? I had a few cortisone injections in the top of my foot back in 2006...no biggie, but that she sort of played yard darts with my foot (I guess she was good at what she was doing...), but this is my neck...my spine...

I pass out easily...get barfy too, just getting blood drawn and immunizations done, so my husband is trying to get off work early to go with me and drive. We also have a big art show of our daughters to attend tonight, so I am just trying to be positive about the whole thing!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Well, this is not turning out, yet, as I had hoped. I did get woozy and almost passed out after the shot stuff (nurses freaking out when my numbers all dropped, etc. I warned them I pass out when needles are involved, etc, but I am sure they hear the "I hate needles" stuff all the time, but I was true to my warnings when my BP dropped crazy and heart rate did too. All was fine and I was properly embarassed as usual a bit later)

The shot itself DID hurt me. That pressure filled thing, zingers thru my arm and that incredible pain/discomfort thing. UGH. And I ahve been in sort of a "new" pain ever since. I was led to beleive I would roll right out of there and be able to work the next day. Um, no. I was lucky I had my hubby with me, and was able to only work 3 hours on Friday. But there is a weird level of improvement each day, but at this rate it will be weeks still before I am even doing normal activities. I am supremely frustrated.

I am calling the Dr today to see if this is indeed on track with what should be happening and to see where we go next!

Well, I've never had the injections in my neck. I did just have one in my lower back for a herniated disk on Monday. I was dreading that one pretty badly and it turned out to be a piece of cake and I am noticing MUCH improvement!!

I was told to go home and rest the remainder of the day Monday, but honestly, I could have been out and about if I'd wanted to. Hang in there and good luck!!

I have never had injections in my neck either but you can try what I tell my daughter. Count to ten backwards ( you think more about it) and take deep breaths. Hopefully it wont be bad. Good luck love.

First of all, good luck! I hope you have a fabulous, pain-free evening.

Second of all, can they give you a little "relaxing pill" before the shot? I am not one to take drugs, but occasionally I have to have stuff done with my inner ear (tube placement or removal). The pain of the numbing shot is...well, let's not go there...so my doctor offered me a xanax.

I ended up not taking it, but I did have a nice glass of red wine right before the appointment, and it helped a lot. I checked with my dr beforehand though and I would advise you to do the same...Good luck!

I get woozy very easily, ughhh....Like sweating and feels like the blood drains from my face...
I have neck issues and have gotten cortizone shots in my neck.. They sprayed this cold stuff on my neck before they put the needle in... It really wasn't that bad! Believe me, I hate needles and it really "wasn't" that bad...
Good luck!

I had a cortisone shot in my knee, couldn't tell you much about it since they did it while they were operating on my other knee. Honestly that knee could have been in all sorts of discomfort and I wouldn't have cared cause the other one was far worse, ya know.

I did help the pain mind you because once I started walking it didn't even give me the end of the day aches I was used to.

When you go, just be honest that you are nervous..

The relief you will receive will be amazing. These are professionals, they have done tons of these and usually your imagination is a lot worse than the actual experience.
