My son is 4, and we have been in PT/OT, and ST for a bit, for over 2 years. He has SPD, along with mild CP. It's been very hard to find other mom's dealing with the same thing! I would love to form a support group!
I am reaching out to all the mommies out there with kids who have SPD or sensory issues. My little boy is two and a half and we are treating him for his speech now. Soon he might see a child Psychiatrist to evaluate him and hopefully get a proper diagnosis. (I pray that it is not autism).
I would like to start a support group or at least chat with some of you who are experiencing the same issues.
send me a message or please respond to this post if you feel the same/need support.
My boy will be evaluated this week for autism. I will let you all know the outcome. Cross fingers and prayers please....

I have a son with Autism and his sensory issues were horrible in the beginning. His feet and oral are his biggest hang ups. I remember trying to clip his toenails as a baby and him screaming but just assuming it was a "baby" thing. Then at the age of 3 he would scream so hard and pull away from me that he'd break capilaries all over his face. It wasn't until he finally started to learn expressive language at the age of 6 that he could tell me that clipping his nails actually hurts him. He's almost 8 and with the help of therapy and different supplements to help calm his nerves he's cooperative w/the nail clipping but he's still very much jumpy and skittish. Now oral, wow, I've come a long way in the last 3 years but food for him is such a big deal that trying anything new brings a monster out of him, it's sad. He eats such tiny portions like a bird so his weight is affected due to his oral sensory issues and 3 years ago he was given a "failure to thrive" diagnosis. Sensory issues suck, but thankfully there are toys and therapy to help us out!!
My son has some sensory processing issues- unfortunately it wasn't until he was 11 that we knew that that was what his "issues" were. Have you been to the Sensory Processing Disorder Resource Center webite? There is sooo much information there.

Feel free to PM me- would be happy to exchange information with you =o)

My son will be four in September. He has been diagnosed with SPD. I thought autism for a very long time but every therapist and his ped ruled it out. We are currently receiving PT, OT, and ST. He also has an IEP through school, and school was so wonderful for him!!
I don't have a child with this issue, but my little great nephew was diagnosed as autistic when he turned 3 a year ago. He is doing amazingly well. I'm sure my nephew or his wife would be glad to share with you what they've found that has helped Julian to thrive. One of the biggest helps for him has been the nutritional products that I've been able to assist him with.
