If you're not afraid to shop at Target - I bought some awesome towels that were very inexpensive. Better than the Dillard's towels that I spent A LOT on a few years back!
It hit me while showering that I want some nice new towels to hang up for house showings. I don't want to spend a lot, but I would like these to later be guest towels.
Where should I buy them? Kohls? Bed, bath, beyond? Macy's.
A friend swears by Calvin Klein.

I just go and buy towels wherever it is most convenient for me and per price.
Even discount stores have nice towels.
At a lower price.
I don't like super thick towels, because they just take forever to dry.
If you wash even cheap towels with baking soda and white vinegar, they will fluff up like crazy.
J. - with towels for showings? You just want them to look nice. People aren't (or they shouldn't) be using them.
I went to Costco today and thought about picking up some new ones - they were a great price and looked nice...and since we were going to use them - seemed to feel great too...
JCP had a GREAT sale prior to Christmas!! I was shocked at the low prices...
Wal-Mart has some good prices too..
The "white sale" should be coming up in the next few weeks...do you have to buy them today or is your home going on the market in a few months?? If a few months? I say wait for the WHITE SALE and buy then!
J.C. Penney has good towels, and they may be on sale now. They often are in January.
If you don't want to spend a lot of money but get a good quality towel, check out Ikea. They're not super thick and fluffy (personally, I find that those kinds of towels aren't very absorbent), but they're very absorbent. Of the hundreds of towels I've owned as an adult, these, so far, are my favs.
I got lucky at T. J. Maxx for my guest towels. They are Ralph Lauren and they feel like velour.
Haha, I just posted about this in response to your other moving question.
What's important for a showing is that they look great - soft and fluffy, not that they are super-absorbant.
Believe it or not, Sam's club actually has very nice towels at a good price.
When we sold our home, we bought cheap towels that matched the decor in the bathrooms. I kept them in a basket in the cabinet and pulled them out for showings.
People weren't looking to see the name brand. They were looking at the house and seeing if they could picture themselves in it.
We were quite fortunate. Our home sold for asking price within 30 days.
I got nice pretty towels at Walmart for just a couple of bucks each.
I just bought some really nice ones at JC Penney. I bought them off clearance online. They are really fluffy and absorbent too!
I bought neutral solid towels on sale at target. Our house got an offer after 4.5 hours on the market! I returned the towels that week, never used. I wish you the same luck.
I've loved J.C. Penney's towels for years. And they last and last.
Since they are just for showings, I have found really some great (affordable) towels at TJ Maxx. BTW....Calvin Klein are great towels and wear well. Good luck selling! :)
I would go super cheap. Big Lots or Gabriel Brothers have a good selection and sometimes good name brands.
I would buy 2 sets of fluffy white Hotel Collection towels at Macys.
