I had mine done at the time of my last C Section. I would do it again in a heart beat.
I also had really heavy bleeding after the Tubal... but I don't think it had anything to do with the tubal. I think it had more to do with my age and family history. I had my girls about 18 months apart, I was 35, and my mom had really heavy bleeding when she was in her 30's & 40's.
I have since had an ablation and I have not had any issues since.
Good luck to you!
MJ

Yes, during my last c-section. Best decision ever. Haven't had an issue and it's GREAT to not have to worry about birth control.

I had my tubes tied 8 years ago. The incision was small and the procedure was a quick one. Two important things: One, make sure you have enough support at home so that you can totally rest for at least two days. No making dinner, no cleaning, just lying down flat. I made the huge mistake of thinking I was supermom/wife and it made my recovery longer. Two, the only real pain I had from from the air that got into my belly during the operation working its way out of my body. It felt like the most painful and uncomfortable gas ever. After two days, you will feel much better and not having to worry about birth control is awesome! Be safe, I hope this helps!

I had mine tied about 2 1/2 years ago. I now am having trouble with getting excess weight off. It is not that I don't know how, I lost 78 lbs by counting calories in the year and 3 months between the birth of my 2nd child and the birth of my 3rd child. My tubes where tied at the time of my 3rd childs birth. I usually would bleed for 1 month after birth, but after my 3rd I bleed for 2 months. During my menstrual cycle I started noticing big changes. For instance, before having my tubes tied my flow lasted 4 days and a medium to light flow. After having my tubes tied it was either 4 days of heavy, heavy flood or 10 to 14 days of light spotting. Both are equally irritating. I am now 35 as of last month. I am too young for menopause, but my symptoms could be connected to pre-menopause.

Here is a web site that indicates that there may be a connection between a tubal ligation and pre-menopause. I does state that a study is still in progress to determine if they are connected.

I had my tubes tied 10 years ago and it was one of the best decisions I ever made. The procedure was an out-patient surgery which I did over a three day weekend. So, the surgery was Friday, Monday was a holiday and I wound up working a half day on Tuesday. By Wednesday I was back at work full time. I had no side effects at all.

But, I will share this. Because I was in my early 30s, my ob/gyn (also my surgeon) was very cautious about doing this for me. She required that my husband and I have three consultations with her BEFORE the surgery. She wanted us to be very sure this was the right choice for us. We explained to her that I didn't want any more children, even if, God forbid, something happened to my husband and I remarried. I would not want to start a new family. My husband, on the other hand, felt he would be ok with starting a new family with another woman if, God forbid, something happened to me. Consequently, a vasectomy was not the right choice for us. After hearing this for three months, she was convinced and things went beautifully.

I have never, not even for a second, regretted that decision.

Good luck!

Best decision I ever made, apart from having my kids and marrying my husband :)

Read up on possible complications after surgery though, inform yourself as much as possible. I understand they can do the surgery through the vagina now, which I would have opted for had it been available at the time. Also, make sure they do all 3: cut, cauterize, band the ends. If you opt out of even one of those, your chances of ectopic pregnancies after the surgery are higher.

I didn't have any problems, was back to normal activities within a few days. But I have heard of hormonal problems with some women.

I had my tubes tied 5 years ago. I was very sore for several days. I didn't get to rest too much after coming home so that could have prolonged the pain. A few women- including my sister-in-law- complained of heavier and very painful periods. Mine have actually become lighter and shorter. I believe it depends on the woman. I would advise you to make sure this is really what you want. I have regretted having the procedure every day since. I can't even look at my stomach because of the scar on my navel. But that's just me. Good luck.

I just had mine done this past Wednesday, Aug 18th. The procedure was easy; they knocked me, so I didn't feel anything. Of course, I have trouble coming out of anesthesia, so waking up was a little problem for me; nausea, chills, shaking. I was lucky enough to have my husband the next day to take care of our other children, while I got to rest the whole day in bed. So far the only pain I have experienced is the air bubbles in my shoulder and neck from the carbon dioxide they used during the laproscopic surgery.

I had this procedure done a few years ago and all went very well. I didn't know until afterwards that I would need sanitary pads at home for a couple of weeks. Go ahead and get you some to put aside. I was told to not lift much weight for a short period, but our daughter wouldn't have any part of that since she was still young. I just took it as easy as possible for a mom during the first week. Not to sound icky, but there's not much bleeding, but for me sort of like a lighter than normal period. The dr. went in by my belly-button and I had a tiny mark for a few weeks, then nothing at all could be seen. I sure have LOVED not doing any birth control since!

Yes, I had my tubes tied after my last child. I was not warned in advance that your flow and the cramping could possibly be worse (and it was). If I had it to do over again I am not sure I would have done it.

I had my tubes tied after my C-section. I had no problem with the surgery or after surgery. A few year ago I started bleeding heavy and I went to the doctor and got my hormones tested and I had very little progesterone in my body. I have heard other people say that it causes hormone imbalance. I can not guarantee you this was the cause.

Its outpatient surgery. I had pain for several days. You can't lift anything heavy for a week.

if you don't have a medical reason to get your tubes tied I would advise against it. That is a major surgery and sometimes puts women into early menopause. If you are looking to make sure you don't get pregnant I here that Mirana is a great choice or if you are married try to convince your husband to get sniped. It is a lot easier for a man to get that done than a women.
