I would like to take a week away with my husband in January. We have been on a Caribbean cruise before and loved it. I was thinking about doing that again, that was until I saw how expensive it was, not for the cruise but for the airfare. We are in New England so we would have to fly down to FL and the ticket prices are outrageous. Same thing for an all inclusive type resort like Sandles, good deals on our stay, but an arm and a leg to get there. I want something romantic and warm but am not willing to pay $1500 just to get us there. Am I missing something? Should I wait until the time gets closer. will airfare be cheaper if they are trying to fill seats? Any great Ideas that you ladies can come up with that don't require a long flight. Thanks in advance.

I'm a bargin hunter and was taught to be one by my mom. If you are getting prices of $1500 to fly down, you must be going first class. My wife and I spent 8 days at an all inclusive resort in Mexico for $2400 for both of us at a 5-star and that was for a suite, including all you could eat and drink and it included airfare. We had a wonderful time.

Try these websites:
cheapcaribbean.com (Current special: Marriott Frenchman's reef resort, USVI St Thomas $504, 5 nights including air, ppdo.)
cruisedeals.com
gate1travel.com
lowfares.com
mailpound.com
vacationoutlet.com (They currently have a special: Hawaii, Ohau, 5 nights and air for $699 ppdo.)
Tahiti has some real good deals coming up too.

Good luck to you and yours.

Cancun has some great hotels at good prices. Check flying out/in on weekdays instead of weekends.

Searching now for a flight in January is DEFINITELY going to yield expensive results. Try using one of the search sights like Sidestep.com or Kayak.com and putting a fare watcher on it. You can have it email you when the fares get below whatever threshold you set.

I'd expect to find better fairs just after Thanksgiving.

Not sure if that helps since it sounds like you want to get everything booked, but it just might be the reality of the situation.
