This weekend is our anniversary. Weeks ago my husband wanted to plan a weekend getaway for us, but since I haven't been feeling well I told him I wouldn't be up to it. Miscellaneous medical issues I will spare you from. Today, seeing how it's just aroiund the corner and I am feeling a bit better, I think it'd be a shame to let this anniversary go having ZERO plans. And I know he really did want to spend at least one night out. I sitll don't want to go far. We wuld be bringing our toddler with us (yeah, I know....but oh well). We live in L.A. What places are within a 2 hour drive that we could go to? (I'm trying to avoid the more obviious ones beause we have already done them i.e. Santa Barbara, San Diego, Ventura). Maybe ther is some hidden gem nearby? We are open to all kinds of things and we are not picky, as long as we are getting to know a new place. Can someone give me ideas?

What can I do next?

Santa Inez and Los Olivos is nice. So is Temecula.

On one anniversary we went with our toddler to a B&B in Julian. I was pregnant and we didn't want to drive to far from home. The place we stayed in had a little farm and our daughter could have spend days there!! Another anniversary, without kid's though, we went to Temecula and also stayed in a B&B. That might not be approprate w a toddler but I think I did see kid's in the winery's. Big Bear Lake is a great suggestion as well. A friend of mine just got back from there and she posted the prettiest pictures!!

Good luck and HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!

How about a bed and breakfast in Big Bear? It's really beautiful there this time of year!!

Palm Springs. They have great smaller 'motels' that have often been re-done in a nice vintage vibe that you can bring children along. It's hot, but Palm Springs pools are always so nice and the a/c is always on;) I've heard that Caliente Tropics (http://www.calientetropics.com/) is a fun place - very polynesian with a giant pool. It was built in 1969 so, it's older, but probably a fun place to go with a kid - not too fancy and not very expensive.

We've also gone to Julian - it's a nice little walking town. And to Temecula, but that's more for an adult-only weekend. We took our toddler once to a winery where we were club members, but it was just for the day and my Mom and brother came along too.
