cod liver oil or fish oil is great for the omegas... sounds gross but my 2 yr. old son actually likes the taste of the Carlson's Lemon Cod Liver Oil. Plus it contains vit. E & D. We call it Brain Food!
I was wondering if I should be giving my three year old a childrens vitamin, She does eat a variety of food especially loves fruit but does not eat any fish. I have heard a lot about the benefits of fish or omega 3. Do you think I should give her a supplement?

Gummy vites makes an omega-3 supplement that I actually take :-). I don't think regular multi-vitamins include Omega-3s.
On vitamins in general, there was a short article in the current Chicago Parent saying that most kids who have a pretty healthy diet don't need a multivitamin (although it won't hurt anything either.)
You're right, omega 3 is great for your brain. I give my 7 and 8 years olds an o/3 supplement everyday even though we do eat fish about once a week. Here is a good linky:

I am a firm believer in supplements and have been giving my son vitamins since he was 6 months old. I would be very skeptical about many of the vitamins on the market these days, though. There was recently a report on a government website (I think it was the FDA, but I'm not sure) reporting women's and children's vitamins that contain acceptable levels of lead. In my opinion there is no such thing as an acceptable level, so I only use a brand that I know does not contain any. I use Shaklee because I really trust the brand. They have a powdered vitamin for children that can be mixed in juice and they also have a chewable vitamin for kids.
