Hi Mamas! I will be delivering for the first time at Baylor Grapevine at the end of Jan. and I am wanting to hear about your experiences there. First, let me say that my three other children were born at Arlington Memorial and all three times it was excellent. Also, I worked in postpartum at AMH as a patient care tech for 4 years so I know going into BG my expectations will be higher than most. I am curious about the staff and how they interact with their patients as well as the patient's family, what you liked best and disliked most, etc. My OB is Dr. Rebecca Robert and this is the first time I have used her. So far she has been great. I had to have emergency surgery on my ovary at 7 weeks and she got myself and our little one through it beautifully so I am quite impressed at this point with the care. If you have an experience with her that you would like to share as well that would be great, also. Thanks in advance for the info!!

M.,

I had my first child at Baylor-Grapevine in December. I loved the people there and actually still keep in touch with one of my nurses. My labor and delivery nurse was a male, John. He was great and very patient with explaining the entire process to me. It sounds like you are pro with childbirth but I was a novice. My day nurse on the weekend was Jacki and my night nurse was Janet. Unexpectedly after 19 hours of labor I had to go in for a c-section because I just wasn't progressing as I should have been. The aftercare for my surgical wound was absolutely wonderful. The lactation consultants were nice too. I will definitely have my next one there too. My sister-in-law has three children and each of them was born at different hospitals. She said by far the staff at Baylor-Grapevine was the best she had experienced. Good luck!

I had all three of mine at Grapevine and loved it. I had all 3 by c-section-The first one paved the way for the other 2. There is a LD Nurse named Phatma (?) and she is wonderful. She's been there for quite a while and is still. She was a midwife in India I believe before she came here. My favorie pain mgt epi Dr. is Dr. Needleman-yes that's his name. He's quick and relatively painless. Good luck and congratulation on one of lifes miracles!

I delivered my son at Baylor Grapevine in 2005 and had a good experience overall. I will be delivering my second son there next month. The only things I did'nt like was at the time the L/D nurses did 8 hour shifts and I ended up with 3 different L/D nurses. They were all good though. I also had a few agency nurses PP which were not as good as the nurses who worked there regularly. The lactation consultants were good and the last day I had an exceptional PP nurse. I am a nursery nurse at another Baylor so I know what to expect. My OB is Dr. New and he came highly recommended by Grapevine NICU nurses and neonatal nurse practioners. I think one of my coworkers uses your OB and really likes her too. Good luck!

Congratulations!!
I spent a lot of time there. I was on bedrest in the antepartum unit for 6 weeks. I had my twins in Aug '07. We were an emergency C-sect, and everyone was wonderful. They had me on the table within 30 min of my water breaking. The anesthesia doc, surgery tech, & nurses were awesome. The only complaint I had was that it took a long time (10+ min) to get a nurse to come. One morning my IV kept beeping because it ran out, and it took FOREVER for someone to come shut it off. I had a couple of nurses that were annoying/impatient on the PP unit, but overall, we were happy with the care we got. The lactation consultants were good too. I still BF my twins, thanks to them.

I delivered both my sons there (Oct. 2003 and March 2006) and had great experience with both. I love my OB, the anesthesiologist was awesome and the nurses were fabulously helpful and comforting. My SIL and another good friend also delivered two children there and had great experiences each time. I can't imagine delivering anywhere else!
