Try HAIR ONE at Sally Beauty Supply. It's about $10.99 Works great and nearly the same stuff minus the shipping and cheaper.
Has anyone used the Wen shampoo that is sold on TV? My daughters hair is so dry and very curly. I have tried so many many different shampoos, nothing has quite worked. This might be my last option. But wanted to ask you all first and see how you liked it. Thanks!
So it sounds like half of you liked it and half didn't! So I am going to try some of your suggestions before I spend an arm and a leg on the WEN stuff. I am Black and White and my husband is Black, my three daughters all have three different types of hair! Very fun in the Morning! haha Thanks

Hello, If you are white you may be able to use this shampoo (WEN). OR Try Tresemme line of hair products. The ones with vitiamns and moisterizer in it. But if you are black try (Carols' Daughter) Sold on the internet or better department stores. You can try a shampoo with a moisterizer in it. Another good hair product is OJON also sold on the internet. I live in Germany, here the water is very hair and bad on your body and hair. We were told by a Doctor to bath every other day, to help our skin to kept it from drying out. Living here is a VERY big adjustment.
I read some reviews of it online, and they were not very good.
One thing with kids hair, especially if it is thin etc., is do not wash it everyday.
If you wash it everyday, it will dry out the hair, more.
Condition the hair after shampooing.
Use a leave in conditioner.
The brand "Garnier Fructis" makes good ones.
It does not leave a residue on the hair nor weigh it down.
Any common drugstore usually carries it.
AND, you NEED to keep the hair, regularly trimmed.
If not, the hair gets split-ends... and combined with dryness, the hair gets in real bad shape.
Split-ends, gets worse if it is not regularly trimmed and they dry ends cut off.
Use a gentle kids shampoo.
I have not used it, but i noticed my sister in laws hair and asked her what she was using, and she told me Wen and she loves it. I have very long hair that gets dried out from swimming a lot and I just use Aussie from like walmart it's in the purple bottle and only takes a small amount. Good Luck.
My girls are half white, half black. I use Enjoy shampoo and conditioner and Mixed Chicks leave-in conditioner. I comb the Enjoy conditioner through their hair with a pick before I rinse it.
We do lots of braids!
Good Luck.
LOVE IT!! Normally, I am about the cheapest person on earth, but tried some for free. I am hooked. So much so, that while visiting the US this month, I ordered three of the 32 oz. bottles to take home. I have super curly and dry hair and the fig formula has made an amazing difference. I read somewhere on this site that Sally Beauty has a similar and cheaper brand. If I could, I would try that first. If it makes a difference, I'm white and I do not use heat or any other product on my hair. Just a squirt or two of extra Wen after the shower.
My daughter also has curly hair that is dry. After going through several shampoos I found this "Clean kids naturally" at Henry's and I really like it. It has a orange cap. It doesn't dry her hair and gets the hair clean. Earlier I sometimes used to apply pure coconut oil to her hair for an hour before shampooing and it helped, but since this new shampoo, I haven't felt a need to apply coconut oil except when she goes swimming cause chlorine dries out her hair a lot.
I tried it and returned it. I am white and have curly, dry hair that frizzes very easy. I didn't work for me. I have tried John Frieda's Frizz Ease line with extra conditioning and it works pretty good. I heard that there is a curly hair salon in Laguna beach that is supposed to be great. Maybe you could call them and ask for a suggestion. Good luck in your search, I understand how frustrating it can be.
We do not use WEN shampoo, but my daughter also has very curly hair tha is very prone to drying out. Those kid curls are sensitive!
We use Original Sprout. It is made for that delicate, curly hair. It's also free of nasties like soy, sulfates, parabens, etc. It's tear free, but doesn't contain numbing agents. It's just gentle enough that it doesn't sting her eyes. It's also effective enough that it actually gets her hair clean. Her hair has gone from okay, but really dry with lots of split ends to curly, gorgeous and lush. I highly recommend Original Sprout for kids (and adults!) with curly hair.
We order it online from this website, and we use the natural shampoo, the leave-in conditioner (a couple of times per week), and the deep conditioner which is one you rinse out.
Hated and returned it. I have fine curly hair and it made my hair sticky! Also, you have to use a ton of product.
for dry curly hair isn't it less the shampoo and more what ever conditioning product you put in it after???
I'm a white girl with stick straight hair so i don't know, but i would think any salon could suggest something the cheaper chain salons would probablly be more willing ot tell you what to buy off the shelf at the grocery store.
I like it.
It is a creme cleanser (there is no lather) so it is like cleaning your hair w/ conditioner-to answer V.M.'s query. :)
I have a ton of hair that has a lot of body and wave.
I always leave a bit of it in my hair-always feels nice after I use it.
It still needs styled afterwards but it feels nice and healthy. :)
HTH!
