My first step would be to a high risk OB specialist to discuss your medical history. That is *the* best place to get info on what you should and should not be doing based on your medical history. They would want to ensure that your diabetes is firmly under control along with thyroid being fully regulated, I would think.

Have you discussed your health regarding a pregnancy in depth with your doctor? You should definitely do this before you get pregnant! Diabetes and pregnancy can be very dangerous -OR very successful -but it takes special care. Make sure you are going ahead and taking prenatal vitamins to get plenty of folic acid and eating a healthy diet full of veggies and fruits and lean protein. There are a number of fertility drugs and whatnot that your doctor may be able to safely prescribe for you. If you're under 35, they usually let you go a full year of trying and if you're over 35, they will usually start infertility investigation and procedures after 6 months.

It is very important that your diabetes (type 1 or 2 ) is under good control before you get preggars. If not, you are endangering your baby. Your thyroid also needs to be under control and you must be careful what you take - prescription or otherwise - so not to harm your child. This is serious stuff that needs to be discussed with a medical professional not a mom's group as getting pregnant is the least of your issues that need resolving....good luck to you!

I found out I had diabetes while we were trying to get prenant with my second child. Diabetes throws of your hormones & your ability to become pregnant if not controlled. After 2 months of being on Metformin & controlling what I ate...I got pregnant, and lost about 35 pounds!!!! Controlling your diabetes affects many aspects of other health related issues. Make sure its under control. If it is & you still haven't covceived, you should probably see an OB/GYN for further testing. Good luck & God Bless!!

I take some vitamins that have helped keep my thyroid regulated. They are super absorable, and I have not had to have my Synthroid adjusted my second pregnancy due to being on them. They sort of leveled out the immune system issues my thyroid caused. I'm not sure how they would work with trying to get pregnant, but they have definitely done wonders for my immune system. Let me know if you're interested.

You really need to keep close tabs on your thyroid levels when you want to get pregnant and while you are pregnant. The first thing to do is get your levels checked and watch your sugar intake CLOSELY! See your endocrinologist or OB now!
