I just have to get off Mamapedia....or put the book down....or skip my nap....but first I think I'll walk the dog...
I've been meaning to ask this question, but I keep putting it off...
Haha!
I'm a procrastinator! I'm always putting stuff off until the last minute!
I've been using the FlyLady system to get organized and that has helped. I have daily routines and I have the FlyLady calendar on my fridge. I also use my iPhone calendar--it's my lifeline!
What do you do to combat procrastination? And don't put off telling me, either! LOL!

"I wait & see what happens"......lol, love the other responses!
I find that lists, organizers simply delay the process. The whole key is for me to get off my .....& move!
I procrastinate because I know that I work better under pressure! :)
I wait and think about it :)
You opened the door for this one........ hahahaha!
I ignore it eventually it goes away. :p
Honestly, I don't do anything about it. I mean I try to stay at least sort of organized, but I work so much better under pressure :)
I'll tell you later.....
I'm waiting for the procrastination to go away first. ;-))
I will answer more in depth later...
(making lists, prioritizing, attempting a routine...)
I have a quote posted on my fridge: "Procrastionation is like masterbation; you only f*ck yourself"
that helps when I read it.
Sorry. I was going to answer this a little earlier but I put it off. ;^)
I have to squash my feelings. DO IT NOW! If I know I should, I can't listen to emotions that try to sidetrack me. I can't let my feelings tell me what to do. When something needs to be done, I just have to do it whether I feel like it or not. Deadlines help me finish, but I have to START.
It's getting so I can tell more easily. When I do this or that instead, I realize more quickly that I'm playing an avoidance game. Often I don't want to start something because I don't think I can do it well enough. The answer to that, of course, is to start anyhow. You can't finish well OR badly - either one - until you start.
I believe it was Dorothy Sayers who wrote (perhaps borrowing from an old proverb) that most problems are like cows - they may seem big and forbidding, but look them right in the face and they'll be more docile.
I'm glad you're using FlyLady. That system helps me get gas into my car before I'm stranded on the roadside (or in the middle of traffic).
I'll get back to you on this O.......
LOL
Seriously, I don't procrastinate about cleaning, laundry, etc. around the house (and I do LOVE FlyLady!) but I tend to procrastinate things like filling out forms, applications, paying bills, etc.
I don't know why, because when I DO it, it takes 5 minutes....
Well I borrowed a book about procrastination from the library, had a long conversation about procrastination with the librarian that checked it out to me, took it home and there it sat. I renewed it until it would renew no more and then I returned it to the library. So I even procrastinated learning to deal with my procrastination.
In college I attended a workshop and learned why I procrastinate but I haven't bothered to do anything about it and it's been a good 15+ years...
Bahaha! So funny. Seriously, I have got to build in deadlines for my deadlines and map out small steps to get something accomplished on time.
It is like building out a production calendar - if I want something done by Friday I look at the time I have to complete it and break it into small tasks to do up until the day the project is due.
Even on daily things like cleaning - I do certain loads of laundry during the week and fold the previous one, etc. Keeps me (for the most part) from putting things off:)
I'll tell you tomorrow. No wait, I have that thing. I'll get back with you on Monday. lol
The longer I put something off, the bigger it gets. I have to just dive right in. Sometimes a 5 hour energy or B vitamin will give me a boost of energy than I just have to do it. Sometimes I will try and hold myself accountable by telling someone what I will do.
hmmm, I will answer this one later......
Ah yes...Just call me "Princess Procrastina."
I wrote about this. http://drpretzelphilosopher.wordpress.com/2011/01/18/lazy...
Not sure how many practical tips you'll get here, since I suspect I'm not the only one for whom Mamapedia is a top-ten item I do when I'm procrastinating!
but if I really really need to get something done - I tell the ladies in my women's group at church- something about knowing that my trusted friends will probably ask me "how did (fill in the blank) go last week?" makes me more motivated to get said item done so I don't have to tell them "um, I haven't done it yet" ;-)
nothing really. I always have a reason why I should do it later. I have calendars written with reminders. I am one of the worlds worst procrastinators.
