When I was pregnant with my daughter (4years ago) I wanted to name her Olivia. My husband didn't like it. He thought it was too common at that time, that she would be one of 4 or 5 Olivia's in her class. He was right, she has a couple in her class. We named her Ivana, but I still like the name. I like Natalie too. As long as you like the name...My sons names are Sandro (Sonny) and Augustin (Tino) no one liked them at first and now everyone does. So you go with what you like and don't ask anyone. Congrats on forth.

i like the name you don't hear it a lot, so its good you are not jsut going with the "popular names"
there is a website i think where you can put up names and people will vote which one they like.
i did that with my second it was fun to see others opinions, not that it changes my mind as to what to name her.

I would honestly recommend not telling anyone the name. People always have their opinions but after you have the baby nobody will say anything bad about it. I got so many negative opinions from my inlaws about a name I liked that my husband wouldn't use the name. I would come up with a few and wait until you see the cute baby. It will give everyone a surprise when you deliver! Good luck!

Having a "Natalie" myself, I think it's a beautiful choice! We call her "Nattie" for short. Her middle name is Faith, although Olivia is beautiful too!
God bless!

Hey H. Congrats on the baby. Here's how we decided on names we have a girl and a boy. So we went thru the ones that we liked the most and kept repeating, and hollering them as if the child was there and in trouble. So think about this:
Natalie Olivia what is this mess? Just play with it and see what you think. I like it.
My daughters name is Cassioppia Lee, not to many people like it, but there's alot of meaning behind it, first it's a star constilation, second my mom was going to name my sister Cassioppia Marie, but she was born with Arneokeari, Hydrosyphilous, Spina Bifida and red hair, so they decided to name her Amber Marie. Alot of people (older people) make fun of her name, they say things like " fruitopia, opium etc." But none of that matters because we love it.
Our sons name is Jakeob Elva that just flows of the tounge...lol We call Cassioppia, bug, sissy, Cassie. And we call Jakeob, Jake, Jakie, " Budda ", little man, buddy or bubby.
Nick names will definatley come into play, take my neice Natalie for instance, we call her Naterbug, or Nat. Her name is Natalie Paige. Hopefully honey I've helped alittle. It's your child, don't let the negativity of others turn your oppinion. Honestley, when Cassie was born my hubby hated the name, but I told him you're the one who signed the bcert, you could have changed it. But he told me that he knew the consequences.lol anyhow I stuck to my guns and now she has a "Very Unique" name. I've never heard anyone else name their child that.. Good Luck honey, let us know what you decide..

My first advice is never tell anyone the name until the baby is born. Because someone will always know another person with that name that they don't like. Second My daughters name is Natalie Kathryn. So I love the name. Not that you care but I always said if I had a girl I would name her Kathryn jo after my grandma and my mom. But my husband kept repeating that name until he drove me nuts so I then decided on Josie until my sister said grossie josie. So I was watching a show on E one day about Natalie Wood and fell in love with the name Natalie. I did not tell anyone until after I signed her birth certificate.
Good luck and remember it is your child and you can name her whatever you want.

Everyone is moving towards the older names now (like Olivia). As an OB nurse I hear alot of names, and I'm always glad when people don't get all innovative with the names. I always feel sorry for those babies. (I had one patient name their baby Atari, yes...like the game!)
good luck!

you due in december? natalie is a christmas-ish type of name i think...so that would give it some extra signifigance, but either way I love the name! I am also due with my forth, and natalie was on our list, but not close enough to the top to really consider. Olivia is also one on the list, but we have decided to go with more of a family name. I think the real question is not whether we like it, but whether you love it! Who cares what anyone else thinks! You name her what you like. Best of luck to you!

I think the name is very beautiful...however I always look up meanings before I settle on a name. If meanings are important to you I would look up Olivia and then decide. Oliva doesn't have a horrible meaning, but it also doesn't have a good strong meaning behind it and that is what is most important to me. For example ~ One of my sisters friends just named their newborn son with a name that means "death angel"...the meaning didn't seem to faze them...but I think when we give our kids names that they will be called for the rest of their lives, we are speaking those meanings over them as well, and I am a firm believe that the words we choose to use (especially when speaking over other people) are important...like as parents we don't call our children stupid we tell them that they are smart, we don't tell them their an inconvience (sp?) we tell them that we love them no matter what and they are a joy to have etc.
Anyway just my thoughts ~ Congrats on the new bundle of joy!!

I love the name Olivia. I wanted to name my daughter that, but realized everyone was naming their daughters Olivia. So, it is her middle name.
I have never been a huge fan of the name Natalie...but hon, it isn't about what we like... it's what YOU like! Natalie Olivia does flow nicely though.
