I lived in oklahoma for 42 yrs. the storms with tornadoes this many is not unusual. what is very unusual is to have 2 possible f5 and this long tracked. this is not normal for oklahoma
Maybe I don't pay much attention or maybe it's really as bad as it seems. Are there tornadoes like this all the time or is this a sign?

Yep! It's a sign it's spring time.
Its part of nature and part of life. I THINK im sick of it because I live in north central texas and I feel like I have to revolve my plans and so forth around it! Its getting old!
Well, we know that tornadoes have been around at least since The Wizard of Oz. I think they've always been there and severity year to year changes... and media frenzy is now much more heightened. California earthquakes come and go too, we havent had much action in awhile, Mother Nature is a curios thing.
Is the crazy weather a sign? It very well could be. If I feel that it's a sign, then I feel that I'm prepared.
it's a sign that we are probably hitting a natural violent weather pattern, that yes, would probably happen even without human intervention. but anyone who thinks that the havoc we're wreaking on this planet is having no effect has their head buried in the sand.
is it a sign of biblical retribution and cataclysm? i don't think so, unless the bible is simply predicting 'humans are asshats and at some point will probably s____ where they eat to the point that they destroy their own habitat.'

yes, the news said last night we have had twice the normal tornadoes so far this year, and tornado season isn't over. it's not your imagination. don't know about it being a sign, but it's a fact that this has been a horrible tornado season. the two years before hurricane Katrina were also the worst in a long time, for hurricanes. and the last couple years have been relatively easy as far as hurricanes go. i think these things just go in cycles.
Yeah it is a sign of what happens when we get used to el nino weather patterns and get hit with a la nina.
I really wish people would learn the difference between climate and weather. :(
Grandma, did you know that the Wizard of Oz is about America going off the gold standard. Honestly that makes me laugh every time I hear the title. :)
Not all the time, but tornado season gets really bad after a few years between bad seasons. I grew up in Oklahoma, so I got used to them. What I wasn't used to was being crowded into the tunnel through the Tulsa Aquarium's shark tank so everyone could use it as a storm shelter during a tornado. Got a nice long look at the sharks while my cousin and I were talking about what would happen if the glass broke. At least it left us with an interesting memory.
I used to drive through Joplin with my family about 12 times a year. I'll bet most people in NC never even heard of Joplin before it got hit.
Throughout history the weather patterns, disasters, sicknesses, forest fires, have always been coming and going in cycles. Global warming can't be proven either because it's all been done before. However...
The Bible does tell us these things will increase before the tribulation happens. But we are also told that God's time is not the same as our own.
What I think is that the physical world we live in is very much connected to the spiritual realm we can't see and most of us don't understand. I think we need to pray and seek Gods protection and favor.
It's a sign of the strength, dignity and courage of the people in the areas that have been stricken-when their faith is tested-they are -all in! I only wish I could physically be there to help. God love them-and you for your concern!
sick of 'em! we had a LOT tonight...too many to count. we hung out in the bathroom for a little while. then i got my boy back to bed...then it started hailing HUGE hail - AGAIN! enough of the sirens, hail, scary thunder. :(
nothing like joplin, pales in comparison, but not diggin the tornadoes surrounding me!
but we made...tomorrow's a better/new day! :)
I am starting to think it could be a sign...of what who knows...I have family in Ok, and I am worried sick about them. I have heard from one of them. She just had the last big one go by her house. They were not hit. Thank god. Still Aunt and friends are having warnings...I havent heard from them yet.
Currently I am freking out because I have friends and family in dallas right in the paths ... my sisters patio is gone from straightline winds and a friend at the ball park.
It does seem to be more than usual, and in areas that are not typically hit like this but are near areas that are.
