Hi Ladies,
I was just wondering if any of you are familiar with juicing? If you are could you recommend a good juicer? I really can't spend more than $200, but I would like to get a good one. Also if you have any recipes, please share. Thank you.
M.

Summary

Some suggest to buy the Jack Lalane juicer. Buy one on craigslist or EBay and you will pay pennies on the dollar. There are fruit and veggie juicing recipes in the box when you purchase the juicer. Also, if Hamilton is a popular juicer as well, they are available at Wal-Mart, Target.

We got a great one at Best Buy for $80. I can't remember the brand right now but you can put anything through it (except avocado pits). If you want to the know the brand PM me and I'll get back to you.

i got a free one on freecycle :) You can also check on craigslist. Even if you get it new, you can get a very decent one for well under $200, so have no fear :)

Try Victoria Boutenko's Green for Life. but basically a leafy green + sweet thing like apple + sour (my fave is lemon).

Have fun! It's delicious.

We got a Hamilton juicer from Wal-mart that we like alot. I was looking around at some places and even thought of buying the one on T.V. But after reading how many watts the Hamilton uses I was impressed so we tried it and it is great. Good luck.

Make sure when you buy one that it doesn't have a basket strainer. They are impossible to clean. I takes 30+ minutes and there will still be food particles in the grater thingy. The jack lelane one is supposed to be the best, and give you the most juice for your money. :) Good luck!

Juicing is a great way to get your proper nutrients from fruits and veggies, especially when you are in a hurry. If I could just take the time to do this on a regular basis, I would do it!! I have the Jack LaLanne Power Juicer. It seems to be the best on the market. There are fruit and veggie juicing recipes in the box when you purchase the juicer. You can also experiment with fruits and veggies once you try the recipes they have in the box. I think if you get into the habit of juicing and like the combinations, you will want to do it more and you will probably see some improvement in digestion, skin problems, less health problems, possible weight loss and will have more energy.

M.,
Any Jack Lalane juicer would be worth investing in. They are well within your budget. My husband is an avid juicer and has been for some years. While I don't have any recipes with me, anything you want to juice would be good if carrots are the main ingredient. I do know that an apple and a lemon makes the best lemonade in the world!

We got ourselves a Juicerman Juicer off Craigslist for 25 dollars. It also came with a book it is called The Juicerman's Power of Juicing by Jay Kordich. It is a good book.He actually breaks down the different fruits and veggies, telling what mixes well with what.He even has recepies in the book.My favorite juice would have to be 2 apples 2 carrots and 1 orange or canteloupe and orange.I am not to big on veggies in the juicer we tried beets and whoa talk about earthy flavor.

My Mom uses the Jack Lalanne juicer, she has had other kinds and says by far this is her favorite. It has less scraps and gives you more juice. She will be 80 this year and when she wore out the first one, she bought another one to replace it. Enjoy!

I juiced years ago and loved it!

A good juicer is so key, especially when it comes to cleaning it. I had the Juiceman juicer and it was great.

The juiceman book is FANTASTIC! You can also find a ton of recipes on the internet. Once you start doing it though, you won't need the recipes.

Word of caution....be careful using a lot of carrots, which is a base for a lot of the drinks. You use too many your skin will turn orange! Mine did. LOL!

If you are going to juice every day, or more than once a day, I highly suggest getting 2 juicers. They are not the easiest to clean, dishwasher helps, and having two juicers is more convenient.
