What to Do If My Studs Seem Too Short?

So I recently pierced my ears for the second time. the lobe and the left helix. the first time I pierced my lobe it took forever to heal, I thought it would never heal. I had to take out the studs that were used initially and replace them with sterling silver. They finally healed, but now I notice that the studs used to pierce these piercings that I got about 3 days ago is too short as my ear lobes are naturally thick, I fear a reoccurrence of my previous nightmare so I am wondering how soon can I remove these really short studs that has got the earring clinging to my lobes???

What can I do next?

Usually the studs they use to pierce the ears are longer than normal earrings. I'd ask the place where they were done to see if they might have used children's sizes on you instead of adult size. You can always go and buy other studs like the ones they pierce them with.

You need to call or go back to the place that did your piercing and ask them.

I might call my doctor or consulting nurse. Do you have any pus or other stuff oozing from your ear? I wonder if you have an infection and that is making your ears swollen and the studs seem too short. Perhaps you need some meds to clear an infection. Your doctor or nurse can help guide you on this.

Good luck.

Go back to where you got your ears pierced and ask them for the extra long studs. They should have them.
You can change them yourself at home. The too short ones will keep your ear swollen & will cause it to
become infected. Wipe around the new stud with Hydrogen Peroxide. Hang in there. That should work.

Are you using hydrogen peroxide to clean your ears and are you twisting the earrings every day? If you have crustiness or goopy stuff, take out the earrings and clean them, clean your ears, and then immediately put in studs that are longer. Make sure that the studs are the same thickness, too.

I don't know what to say to you about the sterling silver versus gold. Just make sure that you aren't using steel...

My daughter has thicker lobes and we have to buy her "extended post" earrings. They are just longer so they fit her lobes better.

Just take the earrings back to where you got them and see if they sell ones with extended posts and then wear those. Good luck.

Thanks for the help ladies. I took them out and got a silver earring with a much longer post. This one feels much better.

Go back to where you got your piercings done at. Hopefully it was a piercing or tattoo place and not some jewelry store. I know that Wal Marts here in Michigan sell longer posts that they do piercing with. That is what I buy after my piercings heal.

Well, my lobes swelled up a bit from being pierced. I would take an anti-inflammatory if it was me. But in case they are infected, you might want to actually go back where you had it done. Hard to advise over the internet. Kind of a funny question for a mom site :)
